Q about Max Cleland
Does anyone here know how to get hold of Max Cleland. There has been some talk in GD about sending him flowers. As he doesn't hold public office, his address is unlisted. If someone does know him, do you think he would like flowers ala what was done for Helen Thomas?

2. Not sure if flowers would pick him up but

I thought it was a cool idea when I read it earlier too.

Was hoping someone here would have a connection as he still works with Senator Kerry... to find out if this would work... or not. It may be that the flowers wouldn't give him the lift he needs but the knowledge that so many here and elsewhere I am sure care about him and respect what he has accomplished in his life - that would be a great endorphin boost I would think.

3. Sorry I don't know either, but this is a wonderful idea!
I would love to participate! I wonder if Sen. Kerry's office would have a suggestion on how to contact Max?

5. Kerry knows EXACTLY how to reach Max - they're never far apart or out of
contact.

His office can help, and I'd bet anything that Max would want us to donate to his Patriot Project to help him defend other veterans.

7. If I don't here from James Boyce
at the Patriot Project, I will call the Kerry office and ask for their assistance.

4. See if you can find an e-mail at the Patriot Project
I believe the good Senator has some connection with them.

10. Received a reply
to my query at Patriot Project

Actually he's fine. Story was not 'new' but an ongoing treatment that
got mis-spun

but I will pass on your good wishes and concern

it was very good of you to write

James

But, I will bet your concern, rosey, will be passed on to Max and appreciated.

14. Was talking with a friend
who posts here too - she thought it very likely that the repugs would use this info to smear other dem vets running for office. I hope not - haven't seen it yet - but it smells like something they would do.

Wasn't every president a veteran prior to Clinton? So not sure how they could pull it off because of that.

16. then they would be attacking many other Veterans also
considering so many would be going through the same thing. that one Iraq Vet who became famous for the cigarette pic is having a tough time with it. he divorced his wife soon after marriage because of it. he says he still loves her also. the freepers are already bashing him since he has been critical of the war.

here is the pic of that soldier.

17. Attacking vets may be part of Rove's plan
Think of all the vets JK has been supporting across the country. A lot of the newbies running for office have served in Iraq.

I don't think it would work - but that may be the reason this came out now. "Stay tuned for more" crap from the WH on this.

15. LA Times Mag did a thing on him in 2004 i think
it mentioned the depression and how bad things got after he lost re-election. said he got back up to help Kerry in the Primary and was a big part of the GOTV concerning Veterans. it's one reason i always appreciated his work for Kerry. yeah they are friends so there was no question of his support, but seeing he was going through depression and still decided to get out there and do all of this meant a lot.
