Good news: (Barfbag going down)
Webb - 47.9
Allen - 46.6

http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-f...

Keep your fingers crossed, we still have a long way to go.

On a side note, my daughter (who lives in Richmond) told me today that a girl she works with is a lobbyist, and my daughter asked her where she lived. Well the girl pointed down the street to a house with a huge Allen sign in front of it. My daughter goes to the girl isn't that the "macaca guy" ?, the girl came back oh that was all blown out of proportion. My daughter looks at her and says " yep, sure, just like he said welcome to America". I don't think my daughter will be hanging with this girl. My daughter says the only reason that this girl works at the restaurant is so her and her boyfriend can go in there everyday and get their drinks for half price.

1. This may be another Kerry was right moment
I would bet there might be many people disillusioned with Allen who feel reasonably comfortable with a Reagan military guy. I wonder if they would have switched to Miller.

2. Hey, Fedup -- do you ever drive out to Pungo?
There were these HUGE orange "Sportsmen for George Allen" signs there, but now they're gone . . . not sure what happened, but the cornfields are MUCH nicer to look at than his hideous name.

Damn -- Webb is up? All he has to do is not screw up and be perfectly reasonable and acceptable in the debates. I actually think he is up for it. He should just have a good stock answer ready if he doesn't know every little detail about some domestic issues he is not as well versed in. If it comes across as genuine, it might work.

4. Haven't been out that way in awhile
but there were Drake signs up a few weeks ago on Independence by Mt. Trashmore and they are gone now, but the Kellam signs are still all up on Edwin Dr. going into Mt. Trashmore.

I got a call from the Kellam campaign they had house parties yesterday but I wasn't able to go. he guy said a new poll was coming out next week and the last one Kellam was up 3 pts. He also said the campaign really gets moving after Labor day.

3. I hope so!
Allen is a disgrace.

I hate stories like that: The casual blowing off of serious issues like racism. Even as you listen to people who finally are waking up to the Bush maladministration, you can hear some of that cluelessness in their comments.

6. TV commercials
I saw a couple, and quickly fast forwarded.

Oh -- and when big evil corporations are in your pocket, and you're the favorite prez candidate of the right wing, it's EASY to raise millions of dollars. Webb, with all of his flaws, is not corrupt like that.

Hmmm . . . maybe a certain senator from, say, the northeast, who has a really BIG e-mail list can in good time (since he DID just ask money for Lamont and a few others) do a little bit more fundraising for Webb . . . and let's throw in the DCCC -- come on Chuckie boy -- I'd say Virginia is in play!

8. Seriously.
Someone's got to help Webb raise some cash.
I heard someone (?) today say that 80% of campaign cash for some or other race was spent on TV commercials. Is that sick or what?
It's fast becoming a race for cash over all else, and I think that's absolutely disgusting. That's why Casey's lead has dropped. Santorum has twice the money, so his commercials started weeks earlier.
If something's not done soon, we can forget about all the voting issues, cause it'll just be a matter of who writes the biggest check.
Sorry. Back to celebrating.

7. That poll is an interactive online poll, so we need to keep that
in mind (the random sample polls are more reliable).

Also, here is a funny diary from the Raising Kaine guy, including MORE people who had costumes on the other day when the monkey and banana people scared Allen away from his event. Lowell fleshes it out even more. Sounds like the Republicans were PISSED when Allen stood them up:
