Raspberries right of the cane. Oh yea!
First year for raspberries for me and I have been blessed with tons of delicious (in fact the most delicious thing in the world) berries.

I got these from a fellow gardener way back in early spring who was clearing out his patch. For Free! Thank you Freecycle! I mulched them good with compost but I didn't expect all the berries the first year!

Awesome! They are such a treat!

Fresh with cream, in cobbler, on cheesecake, straight up, or any other way.

8. We didn't. I didn't bother jamming any.
We had tons of rain right when the berries were developing, and they were mostly water this year. Ugh. I'm hoping the blueberries are better this year.

5. I have a deck garden.
Everything in pots. Tomatoes, A ridiculous variety of hot peppers, including Habs(several varieties), Szechuans, Serranos so big it is stupid. "Red Chilis", whatever they are, but they are loaded with fruit. Anchos. Bhut Jolokia, wich is gonna take a few years to bring to maturity. Thai "To The Skys", Japapenos bigger than your thumb and twice as fat and basil galore, both Italian and Spicy. Rosemary and Oregano, too. All are doing stunningly well.

My secret? Good potting soil, Osmocote, Epsom Salt every two weeks. Plenty of water. Occasional cultivation.

Happy plants. Very happy indeed.

A botanist turned me onto Osmocote. It rules.

6. I don't know if it's the weather or if my canes are succumbing to a virus,
but I've been picking very tiny, intensely sweet black raspberries.
