Anyone watching Kid Nation
I've watched the first, second and the last (Oct 17) episodes so far. Its better than I thought. I have liked the kids and enjoyed how they tackle problems. Last night they addressed religion and it was good to see some kids with a real open mind to religion and the views of others. Also, I loved a group of jewish kids getting togehter and calling themselves the Jew Crew. That brought me back to grammer school.

1. I missed the first week but I've seen two episodes and I'm recording it.
I haven't seen last night's episode yet. I enjoy it, too. I got the impression from some of the comments I'd heard about it that the kids were in an unsafe situation and what kind of parent would allow their child to participate? But it looks to me like they're at camp only with cameras following them everywhere. Kids get homesick and cry at camp, too. These kids are clearly exceptional in various ways and I think it's an interesting show. The challenges look like fun, too.

I love that "Deal with it!" girl! :D

2. There is not a great deal of danger
There are adults with cameras everywhere. Plus the producers are watching.

The kids are basically camping in heated cabins. Its a great social experiment though. How they react is very different than adults on shows like survivor. Some cry, some are mean, some are silly, but all are very "childish." which can be a good thing in many situations. I liek it so far. Its not great for entertainment, but its interesting. My wife and I talk about it more than most shows after we watch it. I am gonna stick with it.

3. I watch it
I wasn't going to ask if anyone else does because all I've seen are threads bashing it in the Lounge!

I was surprised after watching the first episode that I like it. The kids say the darndest things and I crack up all the time. There have been a few spots that made me uncomfortable -- mainly things that Greg has done. Calling a girl a bitch, pushing a kid, and losing his temper.

That yellow team leader (Miss "Deal with it!") is one child I cannot stand. I keep hoping she'll want to go home. What a little princess.

The little 9 year old that always wears dark shades and was doing the religion survey is so intelligent and mature. He always surprises me.

Dr. Strangelove -- how did you watch the Oct. 17th episode? Did you build a time machine and go to the future so you would know who won Survivor? :D

4. I really like it
Hey Qanisqineq,
my time machine has not been too effective for survivor. I keep picking to wrong people for that show, except for my picks of Colby in season 2 and Yul in his winnign season, I've never finished in the final four, I think.

Yeah, I got the date wrong. I meant Oct 10. Sorry about that.

That little girl is going to lose her seat on teh counsel next week. There are elections. She is so out. I can;t stand her eaither. She is the little princess who will turn into the HS cheerleader who looks down on everyone. I hope this makes her a little more human to her peers.

5. We've been watching it, too.
I like it. I think most of the kids are trying really hard to work toward the spirit of the project. Some of the kids totally crack me up. They say the most random things sometimes. (I don't have kids, so I'm not used to that.) I'm proud of the kids that stood up to Michael when he started acting like a bully because he didn't get the gold star. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do.
