Survivor China - Episode 1 Discussion Thread - NO SPOILERS
Hey Everyone.
Each season I try to post a new thread on Friday to talk about the last episode. My only rules, NO SPOILING THE GAME!!!
By spoiling I mean, no talking about ANY information not aired or dispursed by CBS or by the producers (Brunet, Probst...). Interviews are fine, but not stuff from all the spoil websites out there. Talking about the previews on TV are fine too. Of course, once an episode airs, have at it to talk about it. Also, If I don;t post this, I may be busy at work or otu of town. Please, anyone who gets here on a Friday mornign who wants to start a discussion thread on a Survivor episode, please go ahead.

As for last night. GREAT START! Good cast, though a few need to come out of their shells.
I was sad to see chicken go. I would have ousted the wrestler girl, Ashley. This team is in trouble. They need to come together quick. They are gonna lose a few early, and that is devistating in this game.

The Buddhist temple was incredible. Phai-Gee, the Chinese girl, was so in awe. It was great to see that look on her face of being in her ancestors' land. I am so hating Leslie. I hope she goes very soon. The whole believer in Jesus Christ thing was weak. She won't mind worshiping the immunity idol. I also wish they would let these people bring some clothes. The whole clothes on your back thing sucks.

Let me say I LOVE Courtney!!! She is so New York. I was like that when I was young. We NYCers think we are so much better than everyone else. Of course I learned that was not true, but in my early 20s, I was the same way. Plus, she is the typical aspiring actress waitress. I had so many Courtneys as friends growing up. "I'm marooned in a land of flight attendants and Sunday school teachers!" That was great, and she's right, that would be my private hell.

I don't like Jean-Robert. All poker players think poker skills equates to understandign people, yet all teh good poker players I know are not well liked. I pick him to go early. While I like James, he has a HUGE target on his back.

Let me also say right away that my early pick for best player is Todd. That was genius to pick Aaron as leader. He is so smart. I think he is the most dangerous player already. Of course like Rob C will tell you, the best player does not always win. He got beat by Jenna, the worst player to be a Survivor winner in my book.

The Dragon race was cool to see. Frosti just stood no chance against James. He kept it close, even with the missed bridge, but once they hit the water, James just pressed through that water like it was air. I think it was a mistake to let chicken go. He was a hard worker and very strong for his age. I loved his scream at the end. All in all, another classic start to Survivor.

1. That James.............
OMG he is physically prepared. Not my type but I must give credit where it is due. The Church lady will be a "trip".

2. He is the strongest man I have seen on a TV show yet
He is all muscle, and he seems very sweet. I think he is going to do well, but will get ousted once the merge happens, because who could beat him at something physical.

3. Unless he pulls an Ozzy
and just never loses a challenge after the merge.

I really wanted someone to smack the "I'm so cool; I'm a New Yarker" girl during the ceremony (well, someone other than that monk that was hitting her hands into the right position :P ). And the woman that left drove me kinda nuts, too.

And who the heck comes on this show when they don't like being out in the elements?

Anyway, looks like it could be an interesting season.

I got 300 points in the fantasy league. (How come I can't see what other people got?)

4. I have 220 points.
I picked Amanda to get naked. She came damn close.

Jean-Robert didn't impress much. I traded him for Todd.

Not sorry to see Chicken go. His stratergy was annoying.

7. Have you been able to see our tribe rankings
the FAQ says we can see how we rank in our tribe, but I have not been able to see that. All I ever get when I try is like all the people that have 420 points for the first week or something crazy like that. It's a pretty crappy fantasy league if we can't easily see how we did within our group (not that I have a problem posting my score on here, but you get my point).

5. Chicken just totally mystified me. Somebody doesn't listen to one or two suggestions
of his and he decides he's not going to play? How juvenile was that? I was kind of glad he went because I was having difficulty understanding his speech patterns. They used subtitles for Jaime (sp?); subtitles for Chicken would have been very useful.

The I'm a New Yawker shtick gets old fast anywhere. But in a competitive situation where survival, at least in the beginning, depends on fitting in, it's suicidal. And what, they don't have airline attendants in New York? LOL. Courtney has some growing up to do if she wants to really be the big-city girl she claims to be. (One who's working for tips, no less!)

I guess the first episode was deliberately edited to highlight some unlikeable traits, to establish tension fast. I personally will watch to see if Todd gets his comeuppance, after telling us how clever he is to have suggested Aaron as leader. We've seen people who think they're pulling all the strings be shocked when their torch is snuffed. For example, I don't think it was too smart to ask Jean-Robert 'not to tell anyone' that he's smart. Unless that's some kind of double reverse psychology move I'm not smart enough to see, LOL!

10. Courtney, Courtney, Courtney
My internet went out last week and just got fixed today so it's been a while since the episode. My memory is going. Anyway...

Oh I wanted to slap Courtney! I kept saying, "shut up! I picked you and you are going soon if you don't shut up!" LOL

I was sad to see Chicken go. Couldn't understand him but I hate when they get rid of the "old" people (30+) first and are left with the really young crowd. The Christian talk show host... what did she say at the temple about not being uber-Christian or something? Yet she is a Christian radio talk show host. The poker guy... don't like him.

11. That xtian radio host has to go
I cant stand her, but I love that Courtney chick. She is such a "NY Chick." I have so many friends who were little Courtneys ten years ago. They all grew up into wonderfeul women, but man, at 19, they were as annoyign as her. I think she'll do okay in teh game.
