John from Cincinnati: thoughts?
Ok, I have watched 3 episodes now. This is one of the weirdest shows I've ever seen. Anyone else watching it? I don't think it will be a long term winner for HBO.

Too bad, because I love the surfing theme, but alot of other garbage gets in the way.

1. I only saw the first episode & had no interest in any other.
It's a shame, because I normally tout original HBO series to anyone who will listen.

Great actors and I liked the part of the episode where the characters all met up at the motel, but it simply did not have anything else to hook me for the next episode. And I'm usually a very generous viewer.

Oh well, maybe it will do just poorly enough that HBO will scrap it quickly and move on to something good.

2. It is just so disjointed
And the main character, this John is so one dimensional. I am really surprised that they even thought this would go over with the HBO audience. A reviewer called the series a "floater" (leftover turd in a toilet bowl), that about sums it up.

3. Agree. It seems like a vanity project for Milch, not much else.
Too much agression / screaming, with no real plot or character development.

And yes, using "John" as some kind of android totem simply doesn't work at all.

Big mistake for HBO. Here's hoping they move on quickly.

4. I'm enjoying it.
I find it better if I wait and view the series collectively. I watched 3 in a row with "On Demand". Now it sinks in much better.

Did ya notice all the former Deadwood cast members? David Milch is the writer of for both....

I think John is "an Angel" or a higher being who came to Earth for a purpose or experience.

5. So John is officially flushed....
like the floater they said it was. Wonder what HBO will come up with now? Big Love ends this Sunday. Tell Me You Love Me better be good.

I am enjoying Mad Man on AMC, Damages on FX. HBO better get it together and soon.
