I really like Studio 60
I think it's getting better each week. The one exception is the Amanda Peet character. I don't think a major network exec would go around telling employees that she needs friends. I found that whole stroy line a bit stretched.

But the writing is sharp and current. I'll even admit to a few teary moments with the Eli Wallach character.

1. Sorkin is a great writer, but that Peet bit was stupid
I loved the last show. I go up and down. It is getting better each week, and the downs are gettign smaller. I think it was too early to have a character parents coem to town when we are still getting to know the characters and the Amanda Peet I need friends bit was freaking unwatchable. Overall, the show is good.

3. yes -- how bad is it when a major TV network president ...
... feels more lonely and klutzy than I am? (There are some disconcerting parallels with Tina Fey's character on that "30 Rock" show, who this week was so desperate for companionship that she considered "changing teams" because she met a nice female engineer who was lesbian!) And Amanda Peet's character is supposed to be comfortable with some level of political schmoozing and tough workplaces. Okay, so she did stand up to Steven Weber and overrode his choice of that tacky reality series, but somehow she still comes across as being much lower in the hierarchy than "president".

I like what they're doing with Cal's character (already coming across as different from "Danny" in TWW). And I'm starting to like Tom and Simon. Neat that Tom is so geeky about history and architectural design -- his disapproving dad would almost be a cliche, except that I know a guy, now an architect, who is estranged from his father.

10. I love that show too...
However, I think they're focusing too much on the Matt/Harriet thing.

11. Interestingly enough I got a survey about that from NBC...
...I signed up a while back as someone that was willing to take surveys about tv shows and after having suffered through this past monday's episode thought to myself about what a bore that whole storyline was. Then bingo, presto the follwoing morning there was an NBC survey within which was a character-by-character breakdown of Studio 60.

It was a good survey, in that it allows a lot of written feedback rather than just yes/no answers, and I was able to throw my tuppence in about what a bore the Harriet character is, and how unbelievable that she would work in that environment and would have that much of a hold over Matt...

Whether it does any good or not i couldn't say, but I take it as an encouraging sign that rather than just asking whether the show was good or not it asked specifics about the show (to tell if I really watched it I guess) and details about the individual characters..

I got one last year about Medium, another show I love, and I went on at great length about why I liked the show so much. I got the feeling they were up in the air about whether to keep it or not, and I really pitched them hard....so I was REALLY pleased to see it back again this year...

If they get rid of/tone down the whole Harriet thing, and concentrate on Jordan/Danny/the rest of the show they'll be much better off...no-one likes watching a twitchy, conflicted religious wingnut on a show that's supposed to be funny...
