Survivor Cook Islands - Episode 4 Discussion Thread
I was so glad that the "older tribe" Aitu kicked some tail. Raro fell into the trap of thinking strength will carry through all problems. They needed teamwork and instead got some strong people banging heads. Aitu looked realy good.

I was sorry to see JP get ousted. I like him quite a bit. He was nice and semed to really get the game. He thought he was protected by his alliance, but he never seemed scared. Thats the trick, you have to always be scared and protect yourself. when you let your guard down, it bites you on the ass. I was surprised it was 7 to 2. I did not think the other guys would flip. His lazy attitude did him in. It would piss me off if he asked me to hand him the machette when he was ten feet closer to it but did not want to get up.

Ozzy is a freaking fast swimmer. HE got to the water four or five seconds after JP and flat out beat him to the stand. He won that event for Aitu. They better not get rid of him for a few more episodes. I like Jon last night. He was the only one concerns about the girls feelings as they were throwing them through the ropes and obstacles. He will probably go soon because he is too public with his game planning, but I like the guy. Also, Nate is just a cool guy. He is strong as hell and is playing a good game. Watch out for him.

1. I think JP should have contributed more instead of napping
and directing and demanding; that was his downfall. And boy, was he shocked! As for his team members, sometimes the bigger they are, the harder they fall. JP, for all his strength, wasn't up for that swim.

Not only can Ozzy swim, he can feed his tribe. That's a big plus for all of them.

I loved watching the bird saga; the tribe members felt so bad when they spied the baby. Their humanity came through.

I enjoyed this episode as it kept us guessing!

2. It was a good episode
JP did not seem all that directing to me, just rather assuming that he would be served. I would not be surprised if he comes from a home where men are treated in a a similar way. His concern for steph was clear at th eend. He clearly liked all his tribemates and felt bad that one was going to leave. I don't think he was bad and I don;t think he realized he was being demanding or lazy. It just came naturally to him. This game brings out your natural persona, you can't hide it.

You are right about JP and that swim. He got flat out beat. JP called it himeself during the tribal counsel. He knows he lost that race. Ozzy is in a good place. He can swim fast and fish good. He will be around for awhile.

The bird saga was great TV. Jon looked like he was gonna cry. Humanity on TV is rare, and that was a few moments of it. Overall I loved this episode and it turned around my feelings about the season so far. I've liked the first few, but have not been blown away. I was startign to feel that the season would be average at best. That last episode was GREAT! I hope it continues in that direction.

8. That bird moment was a defining one for me as far as who I like.
I'm really pulling for Aitu, now. I really like this season, and this episode was great.

3. I'm going to agree with what's already been posted here
I was also surprised that more than one of the guys voted for JP. It was the correct move, and I was very impressed with JP's reaction -- he was very poised and gracious, made my opinion of him rise, even though I didn't dislike him anyway.

I really like Ozzy, but he's going to be a hot potato. He will likely win many immunity challenges when it becomes important, and if he gets to the finals, I can see the others voting for him because of his skills. But that's a ways off yet...

Great episode, agree.

4. ozzy
I think Ozzy will be gone by then. Dominating physical events brings loyalty in the early weeks, but once there is amarger, you need to keep dominating (ala Colby) or else you are toast.

5. What in the world were they doing with the bird's nest?
Were they trying to get some eggs???? By knocking it out of the tree???

I wasn't expecting JP to get the boot. His "speech" at the end was nice. I thought he was going to be more upset.

Ozzy's bio says he owns property in Panama where he does a lot of spearfishing...he can also dive to 30' and can hold his breath for 3 mins.

Hunger doesn't seem to be as big a problem as it has been before.

6. The bird nest thing was great
I've not seen such raw emotion in awhile. Jon really looked sad about the little bird being injured. I think they were going for eggs. Not sure the plan was to knock the nest loose or just scare away the mama bird long enough to get the eggs.

Ozzy is in a good place, but he tends to show his emotions on his face. He has to get better at hiding what he in thinking.

7. It was a pretty good episode.
Ozzy is the man in the swimming events. It looked like he was actually running on top of the water for a second there. At least JP admitted that the reason they lost was the swimming, but I don't think anybody could have beat Ozzy.

I felt bad for Jonathan, aka Alan Alda voice, with the birds nest incident. I think this season is finally picking up and not so boring anymore. I've noticed that Adam doesn't get asked many questions or get much airtime, that is usually someone that can go far by flying under the radar, watch out for him.

9. Its all about Adam
He is going to fly under the radar while they pick off some bigger characters like JP, and he will start winning in the end. Its him and Yul that seem in the best position, but its VERY early.

10. Adam was in on the scheme to get rid of JP
Nate should start to worry.

11. I think Nate will be fine for awhile
I think one of the women in Raro is in trouble, unless its awhile before they lose again. If they lose soon, they are not gonna get rid of another strong person. IMO, it will be Stephanie. If they win a few immunity challanges and it gets closer to the merge, then maybe you are right and Nate would go before someone like Stephanie who does not appear to be a physical threat in ICs. Raro better win a few IC or else they are toast.

12. I agree, they will keep some of the strong ones around
and boot stephanie. One phrase like the one this week and people remember that. JP booted himself with his "management" style. The girls seem to have the upper hand in that tribe so who knows.

13. I don't think the girls are really solid
I think a few will go to the young v. old alliance. Its funny, people made such a big deal out fo the race thing this year, but the sex and age divisions on survivor have always been obvious and I would think are equally offensive.
