1. In Simon's defense, he quickly admitted he was wrong
Edited on Tue May-23-06 10:03 AM by Patiod
When they pared the group down, and cut about half, and Taylor came in with his harmonica, Simon said he has never heard more buzz from the general public about a contestant, and admitted he was dead wrong about Taylor's appeal.

Here's my theory: After a lot of pop gods and goddesses (with the occassional Fantasia and Reuben thrown in the mix), the public is ready for something really different, authentic and un-coached, maybe with a few rough edges. Something great, but less perfect.

Plus he's got that whole Father Ted Crilly thing going on

2. lol
He really is a Father Ted clone...now if Taylor does a cover of "My Lovely Horse" on the finale I'm really going to laugh!

3. I'm sorry, but I don't see Hicks going far
It was really, really telling during the Bacharach medley with all the finalists who the ones with real talent were. Mandisa's two seconds of "I Say A Little Prayer" showed more talent and stage presence than McPhee and Hicks showed all season long. I would have loved to hear her sing the entire song.

What a shame Mandisa was sent packing so early.

(Memo to AI producers: Can we have a Bacharach/David night next season?)

4. Mandissa wasn't versatile enough, she went home at the
right time. Also, I don't think she's marketable enough because of her weight. I know many heavy women artists are out there but they have more talent than Mandissa, but she's still a doll.
