1. Yeah they were my least favorite team. Though I think the frat boys are
a bit obnoxious, for whatever reason I like them better as a team as the race has worn on, because they compete well (although the cab cancelling thing was low). They seem to use smart strategy and screw up the least of all the teams.

I think all 3 teams have a good shot now. I've liked this edition of the show the best by far, it has felt more like a race with a tense ending to a lot of the shows (like the footrace last week). I think I've liked it because hardly any of the teams felt like a real weak link, they almost all seemed like they had a chance from the beginning. I also feel that the producers are "pacing" the show and the races better to create more tension.

2. The frat boys are growing on me, too. I got tired of them
trying to put moves on any female in sight in the beginning but they've chilled out and seem strong.

I got tired of Mo and her whining...I kept having to mute her!

3. I like the way the frat boys think.. this show they realized that picking
the "physical" task last week worked against them (swim/hike for a mile) and went for the arts and crafts task this time, I liked that.

4. Doing a happy dance with you
For the first time since I've been watching the Amazing Race, I really don't care who wins out the final three. I like the Hippies and Ray & Yolanda the best, but won't be terribly upset if the Frat Boys win it all.

5. I share your opinions
The frat boys' attitude seems to have improved but that may be due to editing - and the fact that they need to get serious about the race.

I like Ray and Yolanda and the hippies but I'm okay with any of these teams winning.

6. I like Ray and Yolanda too, but they drove me CRAZY in the earlier rounds,
because they were so often near or at the end, and for NO APPARENT REASON, like, they didn't screw up and get lost on the highway and miss their exit(s) (seems like the number one team killer) or get hosed with the lame/clueless cabbie, or get supremely unlucky on a detour task, etc.

I believe they even let the older couple come in ahead of them bicycling or whatever. I LIKED that couple, they were easily the strongest older couple I've seen yet on the show, but come on now.

They seem to be "getting it" at just the right time, at the end.

??? that Eric?

I bet he wins -- or maybe he already did...

Personally I'm rooting for the hippie bros, but at this point, any of the 3 teams deserve to win imho

9. Hippies and Ray/Yolanda have caught a ton of breaks. The frat boys only
screwed up big one time that I remember when they tried to take a "short cut" to come in first and got lost, and, one other time, like the hippies, they made the wrong choice picking the swim/hike task that took longer than the alternative.

Clearly coming in first, aside from winning the extra prizes, is overrated and not necessary as long as you know you aren't last, it's only important on the last leg of the race. Since each leg of the race typically bunches everyone together at least twice (usually on a flight, and waiting to get in to somewhere that opens in the AM), having the lead at the beginning is not super meaningful. The race is designed to not let someone accumulate a big lead so each episode has tension. The winner of a leg has often been eliminated in the next one.

11. Correct. If you recall, in Brazil they won the first leg
and were first to leave the next morning. They had formed an alliance of sorts but they had to wait almost two and a half hours for a cab. When the first cab showed up the hippies jumped on it. That was the end of the "alliance." They were second in that leg. They did mess up in Italy on a detour. They actually had to do both detours. I'll tell you about that after the race is over. The deal in Oman and the "shortcut" led them to an intersection with several unmarked options so they returned to the main road.

10. Yep, that Eric

..so you know who I'm rooting for. He was in NYC since Monday so we thought they might have been eliminated but he was just there in support of Joe and Monica. Of course we don't know if he and Jeremia won since we are all under confidentiality agreements till the race is over and he can not tell us. I spoke to him today, I live in Ohio and they both live in Deerfield Beach FL, and he told me that CBS is not having a party for them so all/most of the racers will be at TARCON in NY. I'm glad it will be over next week, all this excitement is driving my wife to drinking huge quantities of wine.

12. Oh cool!!
On the first night of the show, my son and I sat down to watch it (he's 12). We were both going to pick one team and root for them.

I chose the frat boys (ok, Eric and Jeremia).

My son chose the hippie bros.

How exciting! They won quite a few prizes already, having arrived first so many times!

I can't wait to hear more when it's over!!

:-)

I knew I liked those guys. I had a male roomrate in college and they both remind me of him and his friends. Yeah, girls are always on the mind but they just cracked me up. Pretty harmless. I loved were asking out the Bavarian waitress in Munich while having bottles smashed on their heads. I wanted either them or the hippies.

24. Yes, Eric said "Karma bit them in the ass."
I'm not saying it happened but how about this scenario?

Jeremy was on the phone reserving their cab under "Dave Brubacker." I believe that was the name he used. Joseph was nearby. Then they called to cancel Tyler's and Ray's cabs and told Joseph what they were doing. Could Joseph then have gotten the idea to cancel their cab..?? At the airport everybody was made aware that it was not MOJO who cancelled the cabs, which was their initial suspicion.

Yes it was a good and exciting race since the very beginning. I joked with him from the beginning about being eliminated early on and was frankly surprised that they done so well. They are goofballs and I thought it was something they did on a dare from their friends and roomates and would not take seriously. Yes, they had a lot of fun and were thrilled by the countries they visited and the people they met, especially Australia, where Eric had wanted to emigrate to at one time.

19. Me too....The frat boys played dirty and shouldn't be rewarded...
The Hippies take time to be nice to those around them, they interact with the people they meet really respectfully, they take the time to learn a few words of the native tongue, even if it's just to say thank you...a lesson that could be well learned by others...

MoJo got what they deserved...each other and no money....

I want the Hippies to win, if not them, Ray and Yolanda..don't like the frat boys...

20. I'm with you, when they tried to cancel the cab for the hippies
that crossed the line. It's one thing to play tough, but that was too far. I guess karma worked out since theirs go cancelled too. Was it just me or was Joseph a big loser when one of the frat boys obviously was hitting on Monica and he did nothing? I'm not saying I would have started a fist fight but I would tell him to back off.

23. Please let me correct something.
Joseph a loser? No, I don't think so.

"Was it just me or was Joseph a big loser when one of the frat boys obviously was hitting on Monica and he did nothing? I'm not saying I would have started a fist fight but I would tell him to back off."

Not in that sense,no. Eric was not "hitting" on Monica. He was messing with Tyler who was commenting about their "flirting" while he, Tyler, was laying on a bench by a tree. Eric said something about wanting Monica to be the one talking "dirty" to him from behind a tree. Matter of fact they have a frienship outside the race and were in Vegas a few weeks ago. Eric also went to NY to see them, and had dinner with them the night before they went on the Early Show. My wife spoke to Monica and Joseph that night and we are invited to their wedding. One only has to watch their horsing around at the mat in Australia when they came in 1 and 2 to see that they had a good relationship then and that is still the case today.

25. Thanks for the correction, whatever
I realize there is editing in this process, but I'm a guy and know when a guy is hitting on a girl and based on what was on the show Joseph let some other guy hit on his girl. That is a loser move if I've ever seen one and Tyler didn't say anything until it was already happening. Either way he talkes to Monica like she's dirt, maybe she's better off with the frat guy.

I always love the anonymous internet insider that always has the scoop.

I did not/could not watch the entire broadcast last night but will watch it later today. We were on that roller-coaster since he called to tell us that he had applied and was on the "finalists list." My wife spoke to him briefly after the Early Show this morning and he was indeed disappointed that he and Jeremy were not sitting where BJ and Tyler were sitting. It was his to lose and he lost it and offers no excuses. There is a silver lining though. He and Danielle are dating and he is moving to NYC for the Summer and we are very happy for them. NYC is my adoptive home (30+years there) and it will give me an excuse to visit again and visit more often. On the prizes, we have not asked him about the second and third place winnings if any.

28. (End spoiler)
Edited on Wed May-17-06 11:30 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
Wow, I actually felt bad for the frat boys. Without a doubt they played at the highest level, on AVERAGE, for the whole thing. Hippies just kicked their butt on the last (flag) challenge.

Very nice job by the hippies to come back during the Japan leg. The language familiarity clearly helped them out there, more than I thought it would. Helped them to choose the bike messenger task where that would have been WAY too risky an option for a team that didn't speak any Japanese.

I really liked Ray and Yolanda but they started the last show weak and looked like they lost all their good mojo from the last couple of legs.

Out of the few that I've seen, this was easily the best, closest race with the most tension. This is the only "reality" show that I like.

What I'd really hope to see in a future show is for a team's familiarity with a city and its traffic, roads, or transit system to help it win a leg. I'd like to see a last leg in the states where the race to the finish line is during peak rush hour in NYC, SF, L.A., Washington D.C., Boston etc. with perhaps the teams having a choice whether to drive, take public transit, or cab it to the finish.

I didn't get to see the finale until last night (I was in the US for my little sister's graduation and hubby recorded it). I avoided anything that would spoil the surprise for me since I accidentally found out who won Survivor before seeing the recorded finale. I was rooting for the hippies. I was starting to really like the frat boys, too. The one was quite cute. ;)
