Are there any fans of the show Monk
I love this show and it just gets better and better.

Tonights show about Vegas was just a scream. I was laughing so hard at Captain Stottlemeyer and his karaoke singing.

He was too funny!! Randy was a hoot too.

:)

1. I just got through watching it on rerun this morning.
I DVR all episodes but happened to catch this one live. I LOVE this show. I have to admit, I was slow to get to Monk. I kept hearing about it but just hadn't watched it. When we got the DVR, I decided to record it and give it a try. I am a TOTAL fan!

The show is funny but the ongoing story of Monk still grieving for his murdered wife makes him more than some kind of cartoon character. I described him to a friend as a cross between Columbo and "As Good As It Gets," except Monk isn't as happy as Columbo or as mean as Jack Nicholson's character. :hi:

2. I still watch regularly
This season has been a bit rocky, but it's still better than 99% of everything else on TV.

That Karaoke scene was damn funny.

3. Tony's real-life wife Brooke Adams was on one of the buses to
Nevada to work for Kerry. In fact, she was on the bus my husband and I led. She was extremly quiet and nice. I was so busy keeping up with the other 60 people on our bus (there were something like 8 or 9 busloads of volunteers) to really get to speak to anyone!

Ah, the good old days when we thought we may have a chance to recapture democracy in America.

4. She was on my favorite Monk episode
where he takes his first plane trip. She's a flight attendant trying to deal with him - hilarious!

5. That's the first episode I ever saw.
I was hooked! I set the DVR to record it whenever it was on and got caught up on many of the reruns and all of this season. I really enjoy that show and Tony Shaloub. He's funny but sympathy-evoking at the same time.

6. I came to Monk during the second season..
in part because the promos made me think they were making fun of cops, and since my only relative of importance in this world is my much older brother, who is NYPD retired, I was not interested in the show. I watched it one night in reruns and realized that it was not mocking cops.

One thing that was making me NUTS about the show when I started to watch it was the Captain. It was not so much his face but his voice that seemed familiar, but I could not place it. I then realized that he was the serial killer in 'Silence of the Lambs'!. I like that film a lot and still have trouble reconciling his two roles!

I like Monk's new assistant. I really liked the episode when he became a foster father for an orphaned child.

I also like the fact that on these cable shows, there is always an opportunity to catch an episode after its first run.

7. I absolutely love this show!
I tape it every week even if it is a rerun even though most episodes are on more than once. Almost every episode this season has been great. When I saw Aviator I kept finding similarities between Hughes and Monk. I really need to get out more and watch less TV.

8. I really expected to hate the new assistant
but instead I love her. Monk is a great show, the only complaint I have is the short season means there are few new shows to cherish.

9. Think of it this way

Short season = less opportunity for the writers to screw it all up. :)

My only gripe is the scheduling. It always seems like by the time I find out there's new Monk episodes airing, they're finished. Sci-Fi Channel is also terrible about that with Stargate SG-1; they'll come out with a handful of new episodes then all of a sudden declare a season finale, then a month later the new season starts. Then finishes just as quickly, and they won't show new ones for ages. I've missed pretty much everything past S7 (and all of Atlantis) due to the weird scheduling.

Love cable shows, hate cable scheduling. :(

10. Monk's new season is in June I believe
I have intermittently watched SG. I really like the guy with glasses he is so cute. But, like you, I was always screwing up the timing and missing episodes.
