Vorkosigan Series
Has anyone else out there read this? I just got started, and I love it. I can't believe that it's been around for more than 15 years and I'd never heard about it.

1. it's fabulous.... my mom got me onto this thru a short story in
Analog or Amazing.

Try to read them in order--I'm not sure whether in order of publishing or in order of timeline. Although the story of how Miles' parents meet and his birth may be more meaningful after having read the works pulished earlier.

I've read them all; IMO they get better and better. I thought she'd ended the series and then found the latest.

2. I just finished the last one!
Originally, I was checking them out of the library, but after the second or third book, I realized that I had to have them. These are the kind of books that must be read over and over!

So who are your favorite characters (besides Miles, of course)?

Which books are your favorites?

Do you have any idea if LMB has any new books in the works? I'd really like to see something that focuses on poor Ivan, although I'm still undecided if he should find someone or remain a player. :-)

3. Yes! One of my favorite SF series!
I got started by meeting Lois at a con (actually a _small_ local SF con; this was before she was a "famous award-winning writer", at least in SF circles. She recommended starting with THE WARRIOR'S APPRENTICE, as it's the book showing Miles on the brink of adulthood. I think the first one in chronological order of events is SHARDS OF HONOR, actually a sort of romance in a SF setting, showing how his parents ended up together.

Darn it, I've read all the books in the series by now and Bujold appears to have turned her efforts toward fantasy, so who knows when there'll be more of them.

4. I keep hoping for a new one.
It's been several years since Diplomatic Immunity, and I know LMB has admitted to being a slow writer, but I really want to get back to Barryar. I really missed Ivan in the last book. It seemed as if he was going to come into his own at the end of A Civil Campaign, but of course we didn't get to see any of it.

As far as Bujold's fantasy goes, I'm currently reading The Curse of Chalion, and it's excellent. I'd definitely recommend it.
