I know most of us here are 'Trekkers',
But that doesn't preclude us liking other sci-fi shows. I like Stargate too, amongst others, *ducks beneath nearest table*, and am looking forward to the new Dr. Who series coming out next year.

What other sci-fi series does everyone else enjoy?

1. Don't consider myself a trekker
Love the old show. Could live without most of the rest. But here are the SF series I love most.

The Prisoner.
The Avengers.
Dr. Who.
Babylon Five.
Early X Files.
Red Dwarf.
Lost in space. (silly show but I loved the wackiness and the color of the later episodes.)

3. The Prisoner used to give me the creeps more so than scare me.
All those strange people, bleeuugh, and why couldn't he escape? Out of your list the only one I never watched was Babylon Five. I know it's popular, but I missed the first series, and somehow never got around to watching any of the others. I will see it one day though, promise. :)

5. You are so lucky.
Trust me, when you do see it, you should love it. Complex stories and characters. Very good effects for a show with a little budget.

I will agree with most critics that the 5th season was a tiny bit of a letdown but there are good reasons as the show was for all practical purposes cancelled at the end of the 4th season and they moved things up a bit. They found out before the end that TNT would pay for the 5th but by then it was too late to push stuff back some.

But it is one of the best SF shows ever.

As for the Prisoner, I could explain why he couldn't escape, but that would be telling. :-)

2. I'm not a Trekker....Just a Dork
I definatley rate Stargate up there.

I'm currently watching Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Star Trek: Enterprise. Any other good sci-fi series currently ongoing?

I'm also into what I guess is now retro sci-fi. I loved when the sci-fi channel ran a Battlestar Galactica marathon. I taped it. This was before the DVD's came out. Now I need to go pick up Buck Rodgers on DVD. I'm excited about that.

4. I'm currently watching Stargate Atlantis too.
Here it follows straight after the latest Stargate series, on a Tuesday night. What do you think of 'The Wraith'? As bad guys go , I think they fit the bill rather well. I don't suppose you know who played the Wraith leader in the first two episodes? I thought that under all that make-up, there lurked Sarah Buxton, but I forgot to check the credits, so don't know for sure.

9. No Clue.
Here it's on Fridays. They're all on Fridays.

8pm Star Trek Enterprise
9pm Stargate SG-1
10pm Stargate Atlantis

I think the Wraith are ok. They're different, yet still fit into a very simliar mold imho. I like the show so far, other than the girl thats joined them. She's....kinda superfluous. She's there becuase she knows the people on a number of thse planets? SHe hasn't been much help so far.

No idea about the Wraith Leader.

6. I don't have cable so I am not into Stargate
I have some Dr Who on DVD as well as seasons one through seven of the X Files.

I am a trekker but prefer the original series.

7. I have probably watched a whole 40 episodes of the various
Star Trek related shows since TOS, none of them intrigued me enough to try to watch more.

Stargate, I feel, got better as it went on (I just watch it occasionally too --- and not at all now, since I have no TV), as opposed to others that I thought started strong and petered out, like Andromeda.

8. Blake's 7 instantly comes to mind.
Made during the same time as the original Star Wars movie, B7 is British, lacks a budget, but whose writing and characters are often more gritty than the SW counterparts.

Dr Who is another fave, though I'm skeptical on the new series. But I am withholding judgment until I see it for real. I won't let the producer's rumors faze me. If JNT's couldn't, nobody could.

10. Never liked Star Trek.

I've always been on the more comic side of Sci-Fi - Hitchhiker's Guide, Dark Star, Dr. Who.

Ooh - shout out for Quatermass.

11. I am a total Trekker...would/do you wear your Trek uniform to work?
Yeah, yeah I have the uniform and all...
Did anyone else see the episode of "Without a Trace" a couple weeks ago with a forensic guy working at the computer...he was wearing his Star Trek uniform at work.

one year for Holloween. The fact I had to wear a photo lab coat over it ruined the effect... :D

12. Stargate, a couple years ago, was the best sci-fi on TV.
It's jumping the shark the last two seasons though.

17. Trekkers were great-
However I believe that I have seen them so many times that I have started watching StarGate-and am now watching those re-runs. I am a SciFi fan also, even if I,m in my 70,s.

18. Classic trekker - I LOVE Farscape (surprised it wasn't mentioned yet)
Also
Lexx
Babylon5
V
Hitchiker of the Galaxy

and adore Asimov Fundation series and "The Gods themselves"

I have a :puke: reaction to Stargate - because it's so simplistic and sooo very much of it. Used to be, sci-fi channels had more than one show on.
I see more sci-fi on the Mystery channel these days.

19. I'm a general sci-fi fan
I liked:
Star Trek (most of the OS, TNG from season 3 onwards, all of DS9 and some VOY)
Star Wars (the original trilogy)
Battlestar Galactica (the original, I saw the new version and was bored to pieces)
Space Above and Beyond (could be hit-and-miss at times, but when it was good it was very good)
Dr. Who
Red Dwarf I-VI (series 1-6 were great, but 7 was awful and 8 was uninspiring)
X-Files (early episodes)
'V' - wonderful for dramatic storytelling
Quantum Leap

20. Original Trekker here
I now watch Stargate and Stargate: Atlantis fairly religiously. And on those days I need to reaffirm my sanity I'll tune in to Farscape or Lexx, just so I can spend an hour mumbling, "WTF??"

Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 07:42 AM by YankeyMCC
Is the only currently running science fiction show that I watch.

I will be giving the new Battlestar Galactica series a chance.

But series that I've liked:

Farscape
Firefly
Babylon 5
Sliders (so-so)
Invisible Man
Quantum Leap (I'll go ahead and list it with Scifi)
Alien Nation
Space above and Beyond
X-Files (although after the first 2 or 3 seasons I just watched out of habbit and curiosity, it really started to get annoying)

And of course the cheesy 70's and 80's shows when I was a kid
Space 1999
Buck Rogers
Original Battlestar Galactica
Lost in Space

I forgot to mention The Six Million Dollar man! :)

And of course the Bionic Woman (I think she was only 4.56 million)

22. Oh, I'm amenable to most SF on TV
Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, Buffy, Angel, X Files, etc.

There are a few though that got boring or unwatchable as they continued:

Dark Skies
Space Above and Beyond
Millenium
Earth 2
Seaquest
Andromeda
Earth Final Conflict

there's plenty more where they came from, but can't think of titles.

There are a lot of shows which I consider "fantasy" or SF which most people would not categorize that way. Among these would be Vengeance Unlimited, Strange Luck, Cupid, even the CSI shows.
