Taking a coffee break from oppressing christians or just in between victims?

How about a nice game of Atheist Hangman?

1. Catching up...
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 10:37 AM by onager
I spent most of Sunday at a Geek Meet related to my Weird Hobby. Um, my OTHER hobby--not Oppressing Xians. :-)

So I'm still catching up to everything I missed over the weekend. As usual, I barged into some threads and now I can't find them. Oh well...

I really like your "They Live" avatars. I sort of wish John Carpenter would re-make that.

2. Which hobby?
Eating christian babies or kicking puppies?
If I find out you've been kicking puppies, I will personally see to it that your soul is sold to fred phelps and you're physical body to kathy lee! You can eat as many babies as you want but don't you go around messing with no puppies...

They Live is an awesome movie. I was just talking to somebody else about this on Saturday. I think JC had a prophetic vision when he made it. He was spoofing reaganite yuppies but the scenes in the movie seem more like the conditions in our country today. The homeless tent cities, the unemployment and the media, police and rich all selling out. The stupid film critics got it wrong, it wasn't about aliens, it was about mind control.
Sigh...it feels like we're the only ones with the sunglasses today doesn't it?

And the line "I'm here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum" is one of the best!

3. The babies can give me...
...indigestion if I'm not careful. Especially the ones that have already had an infant baptism.

Actually, my hobby is collecting and building scale models. Or at least it is when I'm not trying to recover from the record rainfall we had this winter. It opened up some leaks in my workshop that I'm still working on. #$@#$...

4. That's not a weird hobby,
in fact, it's kind of cool. I would never have the patience for something like that.

Now this is a weird hobby:

Where do you live? (ignore me if I'm getting too personal, the reason you don't have a profile is probably to keep nosy people like me minding my own business).

I'm ashamed of where I live, even if it's only temporary...

5. I don't have a profile...
Edited on Mon Apr-25-05 03:15 PM by onager
...because of some previous bad experiences with being an Open Internet Atheist.

I live in the Los Angeles area now, but I grew up in Upstate South Carolina.

Upstate SC was basically Kentucky without the coal mines. (Don't you live in Kentucky, surrounded by possum?)

(edit for clarity)

6. Yep.
I am temporarily behind enemy lines, hope to make it back to Vermont some time this year. Financial issues have kept me here much longer than I intended. (I can live in my storage unit here but Vermont weather is just a little too chilly for that option).

SC to LA, eh? Quite a culture shock at first I'll bet. But for the good.
I am stunned by how backwards things are here. I could almost get used to the sloping foreheads and dragging knuckles but the uni-brow thing is just too much for me to stomach, bleh.

I understand about the internet atheist problem, I have applied for membership to an internet atheist group but I haven't heard back from the owner yet. There is a very good reason for such insulation.
I would love for any of these wanna-be christian martyrs to walk in our shoes for a week. They have no idea what religious discrimination and bigotry is all about.
