Lunch with the fundie in laws. Tea bagging and the Creation museum.
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 08:56 PM by sarcasmo
I told my wife that was the last time I would be subjected to her step mothers nonsense. There will be no more family functions for me with her side of the family. I bit my tongue for my wife but will no longer be subjected to her step mothers stupidity. My wife only tolerates the step mother so she can see her father.
I picked a place only five miles away so the ride wouldn't be to long but that didn't stop the stupidity. We get to the place which is a nice fair priced family place. Before we order she starts in about the tea bagging event they went to in Hudsonville, Michigan. Blah, Blah incoherent, higher taxes, blah blah. Shaking my head and looking at the waitress to divert my attention. Then comes the thanking Jesus grace and they still don't get why I don't say Amen. The dinner went OK and then back to the house to look at pictures.
I reminded them that we had to go get our niece in a half hour, which was a planned on purpose to get me away from that Women. The pictures come out and it's of that damn Creationism museum, it was so wonderful, blah, blah, blah. My wife looked at the pictures and the mother in law says Bill don't you want to look at them, NO!. My wife says I don't like photos, LMFAO, you wouldn't know that from my facebook page. The half hour couldn't come soon enough.
My wife has been told if I see that women again, I will ask for some hair clippings because I am a Atheist who has just started to practice Voodoo. The next family thing will be Thanksgiving and I already have my Lions tickets, I don't care if they loose.

1. Relatives
are the reason religious people came up with the idea of hell.

It not only explains time spent with them, it also provides a place to send them so the pious won't have to cope with them after death.

2. I couldn't have said it better myself. My grandmother had a saying,
You could apply to all relatives. "The best way to deal with your mother is to not deal with her at all".

3. Ugh.
I'm pretty tolerant with most believers - I have a family full of them - but I don't think I could deal with that much loony. In fact dealing with that kind of thing was one of the reasons I left a job. I put up with it for a while but when I found a better deal, I jumped at it (self employment!).

Kudos to you for your restraint.

4. Self employment is the best if you are an Atheist, IMHO. It has been 8 years
putting up with this nonsense a couple times a year, yesterday I deleted the nonsense from my life.

5. sorry for your discomfort...
I, however, am rather merciless and do not give one shit who it is, I will unload if they engage me like that. Family or friends, does not matter to me one bit.

6. It makes my wife upset when I argue with them so I have to hold back, it SUCKS!
That is why there will be more lunches or dinners.
