I've been gardening this year. I wasn't prepared for how it would make
me feel. I only have some herbs to harvest right now, but seeing my plants grow, taking bits of them for food, etc has made me feel more like a real child of the earth. I've never felt that way before when growing plants in pots. I really feel more connected with my ancestors. I sometimes get a teeny bit of that sensation when I sew.

Am I discovering another tiny bit of what it is to be pagan? I've been a lurker here for a long time.

1. Connecting to the goddess
does that for a lot of people.
Sticking your hands in the dirt is a good way to ground also.

Joni had it right-"We are stardust
We are golden
We are billion year old carbon
And we have got to get ourselves back to the garden."

Spirit always remembers the roots.

2. Gardening and being a pagan
I started gardening last year with my GF. It is very much a part of my paganism. It is very satisfying to produce vegetables and give them to your friends and family. My girlfriend does most of the gardening. I like setting up our bird feed area with bird bath. If you are growing herbs - a good way to build karma with your local pagans is to offer them some and trade around. Good luck to you and many blessings for your garden.

3. Thank you, and to you and yours as well. We've been gone
For the last four days, but I paid a neighbor kid to water and harvest anything
that was ready to come off while we are gone. I hope the extreme heat has not
killed it. It has been over 100 degrees for the last four days .

4. Very cool! I completely understand what you're saying.
I also feel the same way when I hike. A sacred connection...

I think that Conscious Evolution has a good point about the grounding effect as well.
