The Draft Gore Committee Launched its First Radio Ad
Edited on Mon Jun-25-07 06:19 PM by Uncle Joe
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/WireStory?id=3314409&page=2

"The Draft Gore Committee launched its first radio ad on Monday on WHO-AM radio in Des Moines. The 30-second ad, dubbed "You Who," features a chorus of voices urging the former vice president to seek the Democratic presidential nomination.

The political action committee, which claims to have gathered 94,000 signatures on an online petition, is not officially affiliated with Gore. The 2000 Democratic nominee has repeatedly said he has no plans to seek the nomination, though he hasn't ruled out a bid.

The radio ad included such pleas as "Mr. Gore we need you for president," and "We deserve a president we can respect."

"Al Gore: Right on Iraq, right on global warming, right for the 21st Century," the ad says."

Associated Press writers Mike Glover and Amy Lorentzen in Des Moines, Iowa, contributed to this report.

1. Great. They time this with Live Earth...
How rude. And really, DO the American people deserve a president they can respect after the last seven years? What have we done to deserve that? Again, this is nothing but the same sound bites he wrote about in The Assault On Reason. Did any of them read it before writing this ad? And to think the money they spent on this could have been used to actually plant trees or go to an organization now that is working to mitigate this crisis.

5. I do support Al Gore
Edited on Tue Jun-26-07 11:17 AM by RestoreGore
And you don't have any authority to dictate here how anyone supports this man. I support him, I just don't support the BS harrassment of him. If you don't like my comments about that you are more than able to click ignore.

6. I'm not harrassing him.
I'm not dictating anything, merely pointing out the purpose of this group.

"The purpose of the new DU Groups is to provide like-minded people with places where they can discuss issues free from disruption from those who disagree. The theory was that if we provided members with "safe zones" where you were not being forced to constantly defend yourselves, you might not feel quite so victimized by DU, and you might not feel the need to be constantly fighting with other people."

7. Again, you don't dictate what "support" means
The purpose of this group is to support Al Gore, and that is what I do. And opinions are not disruption just because you don't want to see them. I am a donor here and have every right to support the man as I see fit in these forums as long as I abide by the rules, which I am doing. Therefore, you have options available to you here to not have to see any comments you don't want to see here.

8. The title of this group is "Al Gore '08 Group"
That means we support Al Gore as a presidential candidate for the 2008 election, not that we just support him in general, which we also do. Like-minded, then means that people who post here support him as a candidate. We are not harrassing him (nor do most of us sound like stalkers).

10. From the administrator of this site
"This group would discuss current events of Al and Tipper Gore and Family, as well as the effort to encourage Al Gore to run for President in 2008, indTV, Generation Fund, Apple, Google, The Environment/Earth in the Balance/The Day After Tomorrow, Family/Joined at the Heart, Al Gore's Tennessee Congressional House and Senate Career, His Vice Presidency, His participation in the 2004 election and his continuing pioneering contributions to the public dialog."

This is a support folder for Al Gore, and as such those who wish to "discuss" any effort which also means disagreeing with any of those efforts are welcomed here. There is also no wording in this stating that you have to support any run in 2008 or any other time to post here. You all scream about how you will get people to post in this folder, then you place exclusions on those who wish to do so just because they don't do it your way. No wonder this folder is dead.

2. Nice to hear. It's great that groups like draftgore allow me to show my support
without demanding all the goofiness of a 2 year candidacy.

I hope we deserve tho... that's up for grabs ;/ At 385ppm i'm not sure what we deserve.

11. This is great to hear
Glad they are doing radio spots. Since most rural states only have fox news and right wing radio on its hard to break through all that. Thank god for the internet, its going to save us!

12. Thanks for posting.
I hadn't heard this yet. The quality is less than it could be but I haven't contributed yet to their effort so I shouldn't complain. The message is clear. Hope he hears it.

13. rosesaylavee you contribute more than you know
You've helped keep me informed and that's been a giant plus for me. We've got several friends who aren't able to contribute other than talking about Gore and helping to correct misperceptions about him. They, like you, are doing the hardest part of any campaign: helping to sell others on your candidate.

I needed that today!:loveya:

Gore is a very easy 'sell' though... being perfect in every way like he is. :)
