4. There was a lot of support for a Gore candidacy at the conference

Especially from the bloggers. After we set up the table at the conference I grabbed some buttons and headed to 'Blogger's Boulevard' and started handing them out. They were very encouraging and a lot of them said it was what they were hoping for.


Ambassador Joe Wilson got another button this year. I would have talked to him but he was chatting with a woman (that I found out was Digby!) in the hallway. He saw my button as I was coming down the escalator and he caught my attention by tapping on his chest where I was wearing my button (to be fair I was looking in his direction) so I walked up to him and asked if he wanted one and he said, "of course." I gave him one and then let him get back to his conversation. If I had known it was Digby he was talking to I would have offered her a button too.

6. He took one last year too

That's when I actually had a chance to talk to him. He was standing out on the back patio at the conference waiting for the annual Gala Dinner to begin. I saw him just standing there so I approached him and asked him if he would be interested in a Draft Gore button. He shook my hand and said he would support a Gore candidacy. He said Gore was a friend of his and Gore has more right than anyone else in D.C. for the past twenty years. We talked for a few more minutes before someone came and told him he was needed for pictures. Joe is a really nice guy.

7. Yes, he is

I had the pleasure of meeting him when he came to do a small fundraiser for Nancy Skinner and Jim Marcinkowski last fall. It was an intimate dinner of about 40 people at a restaurant not far from my house. It was an honor to meet him.
