Don't thank me for my service
I always hate people saying "thank you for your service". How insulting.

I deserve no thanks for my 4 years of hazardous duty.

It was my PRIVILEGE to serve.

Anyone going around expecting to be or wanting to be "thanked" for their service turns my stomach.

ANYTHING I might get from the VA is undeserved. My reward comes from living in this great, free country of ours each and everyday. My children too.

To any of you expecting something more I say blow it out your selfish, self-involved asses!

5. You were thanked the day you were born
You were born into a great, free nation through no effort on your part.

Many men died so you could have that.

Your service was you paying back.

Why should you be thanked for paying back your debt?

Or are you one of those with the perpetual hand out?

10. I am betting you never lifted a finger
And have no right to even enjoy the freedoms that millions have died for.

I'm right aren't I?

7. OK, I won't.
But all the other veterans I know seem to like it when people express appreciation for their service. So unless they tell me they're insulted, too, and don't want to be thanked, I'll keep thanking them. And I'll also continue to support efforts to increase veterans' benefits. If you don't want to use those benefits, I guess you don't have to, but there are a lot of veterans, expecially disabled ones, who need them. I'm all in favor of them getting those well-deserved benefits.

8. Here's A Suggestion
next time some one says "thank you for your service" politely say, "No, thank you. Thank you for allowing me to serve this great country."

Don't be rude to people who mean well. Lots of veterans appreciate recognition of their service.

15. No, that is not correct
By thanking me they are overlooking and minimizing the debt that each individual owes this country.

29. Oh, my
Aren't you a pleasant one to deal with.

You seem to be picking fights with people on both sides of the issue.

Most people do not go into the military. Does that mean that most people do not really love their country?

Everyone who lives in this country serves it in some way.

26. I am sorry but this civilian thanks our veterans and active duty
troops every chance she gets. I love them all for what they have done for us. My only problem with saying thank you is that is just isn't enough to show them how much I appreciate them. So, to you I do not know what to say. To our brave and wonderful vets: Thank you so much for everything you have done from the bottom of my heart. It is you who have made our country strong and safe. We would be nothing without your protection.

28. Ok...
What the hell is wrong with you! I never post anymore (too busy reading and learning to repond much) but you have brought me out of hiding. I served almost seven years until about two weeks ago, and I wonder If you even served at all. You are insulted when you are thanked for your service? Im insulted that you infer that anyone expecting anything from the VA is selfish! Did you go to Iraq? Did you see your buddies wounded pysically and mentally on a daily basis? its my PRIVILEGE to tell you to get bent.
