Soldiers are invited to submit entries in the Combined Arms Center’s 2008 Gen. William E. Depuy Special Topics Writing Competition.

This year’s topic will focus on activities required to attain overall operational and strategic objectives after the conclusion of major combat operations. Submissions are due June 2.

The winning entry will be published as a featured essay in Military Review, the Army’s professional journal, and the author will receive $1,000 and a certificate of recognition signed by the commanding general.

The competition is open to any soldier who is conducting serious research on issues related to peacemaking operations, reconstruction, nation-building, amnesty, reconciliation and stabilization.

Submissions should not exceed 5,000 words and must be original, unclassified research papers on any topic that examines post-combat issues. Well-developed manuscripts that exceed the word limit may be considered.
