Moseley eyes reorganizing four airlift units
Staff report

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. T. Michael Moseley announced four proposed initiatives Wednesday for reorganizing some C-130 tactical airlift units as part of his Total Force Integration program.

The initiatives — which Moseley said seek to create innovative organizational arrangements among active, Guard and Reserve components – would impact units in Tennessee, New York, Georgia and Arkansas, according to an Air Force press release.

The proposals:

* The Tennessee Air National Guard’s 118th Airlift Wing at Nashville International Airport will become a training unit charged with training partner nations to operate C-130s.

The 118th will trade in its C-130H aircraft — scheduled for removal as part of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process — for WC-130Hs.

The international training mission will also prepare the wing for its federal wartime mission of training a surge of U.S. airmen, according to the press release.
