New division takes over Iraq command

The 3rd Infantry Division headquarters, led by Maj. Gen. Tony Cucolo, will assume responsibility of Multi-National Division-North in Iraq during a ceremony Tuesday at Contingency Operating Base Speicher in Tikrit.

The division will assume responsibility from the 25th Infantry Division headquarters. The 3rd Infantry Division, of Fort Stewart, Ga., will have tactical and operational control and responsibility for the partnership between U.S. and Iraqi forces in northern Iraq. The 25th Infantry Division headquarters, of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, will return home after a 12-month deployment.
