I'm about to finish my Associates in Electrical Technology, but I keep getting worried about what lies ahead. The re-enlistment option comes up, but do I really wanna go through that BS again?

3. Are you on active duty now, or do you have broken service and you're considering returning to duty?
If you're in already, I suppose you'd make your decision based on where they'd send you for your next assignment.

If you're out, and returning to service, you're probably going to go somewhere very sandy, and hot...more likely.

5. I did about 9 years in the USMC and finished my IRR back in 2007.
I did my fisrt 4 years with an active duty squadron and the next 5 on the reserve side, my MOS was 6541 Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician. I went SMCR in 2002 because so I could stay in my MOS rather than be IRR and be assigned to god knows what unit. And yeah, I've been to that sand box in Iraq called Al-Anbar province, building bombs and getting rocket attacks on a monthly basis.

Mainly I thought of just going back into a reserve squadron since the nearby MALS is moving out of NAS Atlanta and over to Robins AFB next year. The drawback is that even though I would go back in as a Sgt. in SMCR, I don't have a chance in hell of getting any CDI or Team Leader quals. For those who don't know that would be like being a sgt. in a squad and not even leading a fire team.

Plus no longer believing in that BS war in Iraq we got lied into, or that war against Al-Quaeda in Afghanistan which transformed into a war against the clusterfuck of factions with ties to the Heroin trade--is weighing against my decision to re-enlist.

I equate this decision to the scenario of whether or not someone should get back together with a gf who is hottie and great in the sack, but is a total bitch on wheels.

Hopefully with my education I'll be able to find an electrical job easily, especially since my GPA is 3.325. And if anyone has some web links to sites which are involved with any hiring of green-electrical industry jobs, would you please post?

6. You will end up somewhere hot-n-sandy, I suspect.
It is a tough decision -- you will, if you want to have that career/pension thing, have to make your call soon. Good luck to you, whatever you decide. It would be nice if you could land a cushy 'green economy' high paying job with air conditioning (green supplied, of course!).

7. Well I can stand hot n' sandy, as long as it involves a green job in the states.

I'm more of a hands on person who doesn't like being confined to an office. Hopefully I can find some green jobs in the Southeast, either in bama, the Atlanta metro area or if I'm lucky, near Savannah.

12. You're young. Don't make hasty decisions that will determine your future.

++++++++++++++++++

Girls come and go, until you meet up with the one for you. Hot pants shouldn't determine the future you want for yourself. Especially if she is a bitch on wheels. You deserve better.

Best to ya :hi:

9. I think I'll go towards that option.
Heck I have considered helping out Veterans For Peace in a protest. And even though I support IVAW, they seem to lean towards the Ron Paul crowd a bit too much.

13. i did
i'm at ft benning right now, inprocessing. 8 years active, 5 national guard, i made the move for active duty again after seeing the company i worked for lay off 130+ people a couple months ago. loved that job but i can't let myself wind up unemployed and looking for a job in california... too much on the line!
the whole bag of lies and trechery that was involved in the iraq war aside, i love serving our country and hope i can keep things solid for my family too.
