TRENTON, N.J. — The Department of Defense says a soldier from New Jersey has died in Iraq.

Twenty-six-year-old Spc. Brian M. Connelly of Union Beach died Thursday in Adhamiya, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by an explosive device. The DoD announced his death in a statement issued Saturday.

He was assigned to the 40th Engineer Battalion, Task Force 1-6, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division based in Germany.
