Veterans Return Retreat. (Jan. 4 - 7, Albany NY)
Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 12:17 AM by Dover

January 4 - January 7, 2007
Albany, NY

Soldier’s Heart - Veterans Return Retreat.

In response to those who want an in depth experience, Soldier’s Heart is announcing our first Veterans' Return Retreat. We will gather on Thurs. evening Jan. 4th, 2007, for a special opening experience and spend an intensive 3 day weekend together sharing storytelling, healing rituals, ceremonies and teachings. It will not be a traditional conference, but an experiential, intensive retreat, calling on the essential healing elements that are described in “War and the Soul”. Areas we will address are: The Old Identity, Being Called, Boot Camp, On the Home Front, War Madness, Homecoming, and Warriorhood. We will limit the size of this initial gathering to 25 attendees to keep it as safe, intimate and inspired as possible. We will strive to keep costs moderate and offer scholarship aid for veterans who need assistance to attend.

Date:
January 4 - January 7, 2006

1. This is so good to hear

At an inservice while working at the VA in Columbia, SC we gathered in a circle and did a formal 'welcome home' to all the VN vets who were among us (this was before Iraq). No one realized just how much they needed to hear those words and there was lots of teary eyed hugging to go along. It was a release for all and it strengthened the bonds between us, combat and non combat. We were family.

I tried to rec for Greatest, but it was too late. I'm sorry.

2. If anyone here attended this gathering or knows someone who did,

I'd sure like to hear how it went, what it was like, if it was helpful, etc.
I know this group is trying to get networks of these programs set up all over the country, so I'm curious to know if they found it to be a valuable experience.
