65 Iowa guardsmen get sendoff today

WATERLOO, Iowa — A sendoff is planned Tuesday for 65 soldiers with an Iowa National Guard unit in Waterloo.

The soldiers are with Detachment 1, Company C, 2nd Battalion, 211th General Support Aviation Battalion, which will provide aerial medical evacuations with Black Hawk helicopters.

They will first be mobilized at Fort Sill, Okla., where they will receive several weeks of mission-related training, before being deployed to the Middle East.

The sendoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo.
