Dear Senator Durbin:
This is in response to your request that the Department of Veterans Affairs provide its progress in implementing the 24 recommendations of VA's Special Committee on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Here its come bull flying
I am pleased to provide the inclosed Fact Sheet (not readable) which details VA's significant accomplishments and continuing progress towards achieving the Special Committee's recommendation (Review all PTSD cases) The Government Accountability Office report cited in your letter. acknowledged VA as a world leader in the treatment of PTSD (Deny all cases make them appeal),But the GAO report failed to note that 12 of the recommendations were closed by the Special Committee on PTSD. (Republican Chairman closed it) The GAO report also did not credit VA for its substantive progress in all areas.(closing 18 Va hospitals, closing 3500 vet to vet clinics) Evan the PTSD Committee took exception to the way the GAO report characterized VA efforts.(Only the Republicans) The concerns underlying all 24 recommendations were address in VA's Mental Health Strategic Plan (ya right)Many of the recommendations are complete, some have been fully implemented and successful performance is ongoing(600,000 veterans last year denied or put on waiting list)and the others are well on their way to being completed within the timelines of the MHSP. (Just like last year you lies about the shortfall until you got caught) Prioritzation of completion of various recommendations is based on the clinical needs of the veterans we serve, but recommendations are being address. (HEY DID'T YOU SAY THEY WRE DONE) ( BOY IT SMELLS IN HERE BULLSHIT IN IT PUREST FORM)
Sincerely yours R James Nicholson
