Gulf War vet dies 5 days after stabbing

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — A 1991 Persian Gulf War veteran who was stabbed in the back during an altercation has died, becoming the community’s first homicide of the year, authorities said.

Bryan Christianson, 39, died at Saint Francis Hospital on Friday night, five days after he was reportedly stabbed with a 10-inch knife by a neighbor, police said.

Authorities believe the stabbing may have been related to a May 11 incident at Broken Arrow’s Rooster Days festival.

Kevin Wayne Robinson, 33, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, but police Maj. Mark Irwin said the charge likely will be amended Monday.

According to police reports, Robinson had allegedly spit in the face of Christianson’s wife at the Rooster Days event.
