New Bagram aircraft loader protects patients

A new piece of equipment is giving an extra measure of safety to hospital patients at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.

The High Deck Patient Loading Platform brings patients out to waiting planes in a climate-controlled cabin, reducing the time they are exposed to the elements and any possible infecting agents. The platform is also a more stable and direct loading method for patients than the previous system, according to an Air Force press release.

The system has various configurations, the most common of which fits six litters and ten ambulatory patients or staff. Two such systems are operational, one at Bagram and another at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where patients are flown from Southwest Asian treatment centers for transfer to Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Facility.

A third HDPLP is in test at Air Mobility Command headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Each system costs $346,000, the release said.

This really pisses me off. Why the fuck do we have machines to load victims of Iraq onto planes? How many victims of Iraq are there? We know the (current) government could give a shit about casualties, so again I come back to what the fuck?

Sorry, I'm just beside myself with the callous, uncaring, unfeeling bullshit these bastards put out. Are the machines a good idea? Yes, if they in anyway help our wounded troops.

Too bad we fuck 'em after we cut them loose from the military.
