I hope you folks are paying attention to the VA (identity) data theft.

The story keeps changing. First it was 26,500,000 veterans from 1974 to the present. Then it was 50,000 (I think) active service members. New revelations continue to surface. From the link in this thread in General Discussion:

Names, birth dates, social security numbers, addresses, and phone numbers were on a computer file stolen early last month.

According to a Pentagon report to Congress, 2.2 million active duty, National Guard, and Reserve forces are among those affected. That includes 80 percent of the total active duty force, more than four times the number the VA first estimated.

On edit to add link to Reuters story

Now I don't know about you, but I'm pretty pissed that these assholes 'lose' private data on almost 30,000,000 members of our Armed Forces. Please share this story with your contacts; post on every vets board you frequent; call your congresscritter to find out what they are going to do about it. This crap has to stop.

/rant just starting

2. Again, I'm wondering what the grade/rank spread is.
If the AD list included flag ranks (generals and admirals), that's a freakin' major security breach. Plus, those 500 pound gorillas have to be max pissed that their credit, banking and gov't records are up for grabs.

3. It is a whole thing. Gov. does not work so give it to private Co.
What is really going on is the GOP can not run gov. Top down gov. does not work well any how. Gov. is a service and GOP want it to be a business. We all know how the CEO's have been running some of our best known business. We just have a different mind set.
