Question regarding race: I noticed on MSNBC today all of the
tour groups from schools going into the Holocaust Museum. Teachers talking to reporters about how SACRED, SIGNIFICANT the museum is as well as it's HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE. Now, we have a beautiful AA Museum in the city of Detroit and in ALL my years of teaching I have yet to see a class of white students touring this museum. Maybe that's just the case, here. I am aware that MANY MANY cities across the country don't even HAVE AA Museums. Does your city or state have one? If so, have you seen any white people AT ALL in that museum? If not, I wonder WHY that is since so many LIBERALS claim not to be racist or bigoted and insist WE GET OVER IT and compare us to every other disenfranchised group in this nation.

1. There's an African Art Museum right down the street from the Holocaust Museum
it's been there for about 20 years. I believe it's very popular with tourists.

3. My hometown has the King Center, which I believe is visited by people of all races
from all over the world.

My current home has aboriginal art and culture throughout all of its museums. Here's an example of the one in my state of South Australia - http://www.samuseum.sa.gov.au/page/default.asp?site=1&id=454

4. We are about to build a national AA museum on the Capitol Mall
I have been reading articles about the architectural competition

which has been won. this is a giant step forward, to have a big new museum on the Mall itself devoted to African Americans.

it is the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Quite a mouthful. It will be the closest museum to the Washington Monument, and actually the closest one to the White House.

the web page

http://nmaahc.si.edu/section/about_us/view/63

the building design

http://www.freelon.com/#

and here is the video! everything has a video these days.

http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/site/smithsonian/video/more-smithsonian

and I also have been to the African Art Museum. It is a little bizarre because the museum is underground, but nonetheless it is a good museum.

7. We have an Afro-Caribbean Museum/Gallery in NYC--No one goes there.
I loved it when I went. They had an exhibit of Afro-Mexicans from the Oaxaca area. The people you don't hear talked about.
