1. Thanks, Frenchie,
for pointing it out.

It wasn't so much an interesting question as a nit-picky one regarding country of origin (as if people were fruit). I chose not to be insulted, however, because perhaps people need help seeing race as a legitimate issue.

2. Interesting in the sense of the responses......
not so much the question.

Like Agee said in her post there....there really are more important things that we can be concerned about.

But certainly, having a white person ask a question about race can be a good thing....as open discussion is part of the process to possible eventual understanding.

3. It depends
on the white person and their agenda , imo. I wasn't able to tell from the post if there was an agenda beyond the label thing.

4. Yowch!
I'm not sure I needed to read all of that! I was unprepared for so much controversy about the term from Democrats...

My only objection to African-American is that it's a seven syllable mouthful and hard to type, but I like it because it reminds white Americans that the descendants of slaves are also Americans. I think the term "Black" tends to emphasize the differences between Americans, as in the phrase "black and white".

a right or wrong issue. If a black person told me they preferred being called, "colored" or "negro," I wouldn't even blush. I don't care what people call themselves. It's no concern of mine.

6. What do you see?
Please clarify and elaborate.

Your statement leaves me hanging....as it doesn't quite make any sense.
