"Are Democrats coming surprisingly close to nominating a phenomena rather than a fully vetted candidate?" asked Steve Jarding, a long-time Democratic activist. "The answer to that appears to be a frightening, 'Yes.'

Any criticism - no matter how well-founded - is immediately met with ad hominem attacks. Much more rarely do supporters actually deal with the content of the criticism and offer any evidence.

It should scare anyone who believes in that old lawyer's saying about what to do when the facts and evidence aren't on your side.
