Short report on JRE in LA
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 12:28 AM by catchnrelease
Johns event in LA was great of course. It was held at the SEIU721 building, in fact on the roof of the place. I asked one of the union people if he had heard any estimates on the size of the crowd, and his best guess was around 1000. Besides union officials, there were 3 LA City Councilpersons(?), Janice Hahn, Richard Alarcon and Herb Wesson Jr. Both of the men spoke about John and how much they think of him and why it's so important that he becomes President.

John's speech was his basic stump speech, with a couple of references to the governators plans to cut education, among other things. He asked who in the world thinks it's ok to cut funding for education. The crowd loved him, needless to say.

I got a few pictures which I'll attempt to post here. I've never done this before, so it may or may not work. If not, have faith, I'll figure it out eventually. It was a fantastic experience to see John in person, You Tube doesn't do him justice.

2. A few photos finally!
The link to dKos has a much better report, and most of the photos are similar to what I got. Here are a couple more to inspire DONATIONS!!!

After his speech, John went down into the crowd. Brave guy, he was swarmed by his fans.

When he was leaving, shaking hands and signing things, someone asked if he would take a picture with an older lady in a wheelchair. Unfortunately you can't see her behind him; he was such a good sport at all the requests.

Last two are during his speech.

Mr. WFH still thinks I've got a crush on Jean Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) from my Star Trek days....God, I'm a nerd.

12. You're welcome!
I have to confess to feeling kind of superficial while standing there watching John, and thinking WOW, he really is good looking! Not even my usual "type" but definitely eye candy.....in addition to being intelligent, talented, good hearted, most qualified candidate, etc,etc....of course. :eyes:
