Sickened by political naivete and COGNITIVE DISSONANCE, 2008 style.
Thank God for the Edwards forum. If I posted in the GDP section, it would be assaulted by the automotons who yield critical thinking to knee-jerk hypersensitivity and manipulation.

Yes, Obama is a cult figure, no more , no less. The difference is that he cynically has calculated the way to win this election, taking down with him, any semblance the Democratic Party had to FDR or JFK.

Gone are core Democratic values, replaced instead by vague rhetoric about "bi-partisanship". That bi-partisanship is offered for poitical expediency and independent voters, at the expense of true Democrats.

Sorry, but there is no room for reconciliation or a hybrid Conservative Democrat, after Conservatism has undermined this Democracy. Obama doesn't believe for a moment that any true compromise can be reached with Corporations or insurance carriers. He is already owned by them, lock, stock and cash on the barrel.

Today, his trip to a Pentecostal Church is on the edge of fringe Fundamentalism, one of the three scourges of this era:

1. Corporatism
2. Neo-Conservatism
3. FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIANS LOOKING FOR A THEOCRACY.

I know he is cynical enough to be merely pandering to the Right. But, the point of this thread is that I have found that the Edwards partisans are those like me, who simply refuse to drink the Kool-Aid or take the blue pill.

On the other hand, the neophytes flocking to Obama are clearly the pliable and malleable among us. First time voters, independents with no direction, those who are in the Bush "Matrix", looking to exchange it for an Obama "Matrix".

The proof of their being a cult is easily found reading the threads they start or participate in at GDP. Like vacant staring zombies, their rote answers are auto-pilot canned responses, simulating thought.

I used to hammer at Conservatives in 2004, that they were voting against their interests due to COGNITIVE DISSONANCE, as their whole view of the World was predicated on a lie.

Check out the cognitive dissonance of trying to make inroads with Obama supporters as to his Corporatism and the War funding, or any other issue, which proves this man is no liberal. Watch the meltdown and hyperbolic attempts to DROWN out the Truth, like a two-year old with hands clasped over their ears, making nonsense sounds.

Sorry folks, I'm afraid for this Country. If selling out to Corporations is what it takes to get elected, that future revolution is still to come. We don't need wolves in sheep's clothing to sell us out, especially when the record already shows who is for maintaining this STATUS QUO and who will finally TEAR IT DOWN.

Why are Obamites so naive?

1. Why are Obamites so naive?
Because Obama is all sparkly and shiny to them...that glitter will fade soon enough. All that needs to happen is to have hard questions asked of him for he's been getting softballs lately. Edwards is having a rally tomorrow night in Myrtle Beach - I sure hope someone is going to tape because he's supposed to have a lengthly Question and Answer session, that's where JRE shines.

2. I concur...
Obama has barely had any scrutiny. Do you agree though that his cadre wouldn't even notice when he is showing his true persona?

You see, that is the real danger. Don't forget the origins of the Kool-Aid reference, "Rev. Jim Jones", whose cult committed mass suicide in Guyana. When faced with Truths, a little inconvenient, Obama Nation frothingly attacks the messenger, NOT THE MESSAGE. By hanging in the GDP, I have been able to study them.

There are already MANY revelations about Obama , which point disturbingly to his CORPORATISM and Fundamentalist leanings. Do his "liberal" supporters see this? Absolutely not, COGNITIVE DISSONANCE , like their Republican predecessors in 2004, sets in.

It is a scary phenomenon, but not unexpected from the standpoint of generations bred by television to be mere consumers, not CRITICAL THINKERS. Thus, they easily absorb MANIPULATION and are very malleable minds.

We have our work cut out for us. I can assure that the DU phenomenen, is not universally shared. Real liberals see through the Matrix-like effect, and support DK or John.

3. His candidacy could be viewed as a novelty and is akin to a sugar high. People who are unsure of
themselves flock to him because they think he is a winner.

Some wear their support for him like a badge of honor and want to be counted among those who voted for the first *******

4. Yes....how dangerous to go there...
That which cannot be named.

My real fear is the vapidity of this group. Sorry, but intellectualism is not dead, and I have always rejected people who dared to think FOR ME.

These Obamites have no problem immediately ceding their rational thought to canned rhetoric. As a trained Trial Attorney, I can see manipulation a mile away. Obama's is so obvious, it is with chagrin and disgust that I watch his acolytes press a message, even they don't know.....just assimilate and spit out.

My favorite, :sarcasm: , is a certain cultish poster who uses the word. "kewl" in her posts at GDP, which flow like a torrent of repetive babble.

I'm convinced she can't be more than 20 with use of that term.

5. The deck is stacked people....
Read the article about that Corporatist, Donahue", who heads the Chamber of Commerce organization.

The article appeared in the L.A. Times. Simply stated, he is not going to let all the Corporate gains of Corporatism, be wiped out by any Populist. He is ready to unleash a $60 million dollar torrent of anti-populist swiftboating commercials against any Presidential or Congresional candidate.

Can there be any CLEARER PROOF of what is at stake here and who is controlling the game?

CORPORATISM is the evil that must be fought.

NEUTER CORPORATIONS NOW!!

6. Is there any distant hope that the "novelty" of the first person of color and the first woman
will self destruct?

The reason I ask is that the banter and the accusations are starting to fly fast and furious. And "substance" has a chance of being the victim in the Hillary/Obama "race battle"

Edwards has been able to smell out the changing dynamic and speak "presidential" in past debates.

Have Clinton and Obama given Edwards an opening with the last 24hrs of the verbal "race battle" ?????

7. I think he has a real opening
It's not just me and you who think this. I listened to David Bender, one of AAR's political analysts, on Ring of Fire last night. He said that it was premature to count Edwards out. It was refreshing to hear a non-COM analysis of the race.

8. I think.....
Edited on Mon Jan-14-08 12:44 PM by lisainmilo
Obama has great speaking ability. That is it! He has the speaking ability to appeal, Obamas' wife also is able to connect and appeal to average folks. This is also a "movement" like a cult following. Obama is speaking like he will end the days of GWB when in fact GWB presidency is ending anyway. The M$M is also playing a HUGE role in propping up Obama. I still will not give up on JRE.
I think if we keep getting his message out there, it will "click" for alot of people. JRE message was not clearly understook, some thought he was anti-corporate, like he was going to do away with corporations, (I actually had someone ask me how much does JRE think a corporation should profit). They didn't understand, and some still don't that what John is not really standing for people over corporations or people vs. corporations....What John is standing for is people vs. corporate GREED. They are not making the connection that corporate lobbyist play a HUGE role in law and favors. Thus I have sent the following letter out.

I am supporting John Edwards all the way. He is the only candidate whose purse strings belong to the American people. I don’t want a corporate backed candidate who will act as a negotiator between the corporations and the American worker. This is not the time to “hope” for change….this is not time to “work” for change” this is the time to act! John Edwards is the only candidate who has placed himself in a position to act. He is truly running on the peoples ticket…true democracy.
This is the time to act, as our economy continues to decline. Many blue collar jobs have gone overseas or across the border, many white collar jobs are following, yet these corporations continue to make record profits, leaving the American worker headed for financial disaster. Private war corporations like Halliburton, KBR, Titan, Blackwater, and the “big boys of oil” etc. continue to collect their blood money, their greed is endless! They have become very, very powerful, this must end. Tax loopholes must end. Laws need to be enacted to penalize corporations who abandon American ground in search for cheap labor, not reward corporations for moving! Companies winning no bid contracts for private war corporate profits must end!
Many average Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and many more stand to lose their jobs and will lose their homes. Gasoline prices continue to soar. The housing market continues to decline. Goods continue to rise. Homelessness is up. Those without health insurance continues to rise. The dollar continues to decline. I hate to sound like an alarmist, but we are in trouble folks, we need someone who will act on behalf of the American people. John Edwards message is not being heard. The Democrats running on the backs of the corporations who have given millions of dollars to them are certainly looking for more favors after the election. We don’t need another corporate politician negotiating on behalf of the corporations, we need a president for the people by the people….there is only one candidate running on that ticket…and that is John Edwards!

9. Lisa, I applaud your recognition
of what is stake here.

I think every single member of this forum, "gets it" for one reason or another. What we all share is the ability to cut through the "fog of war", in other words, we can see the manipulation of the MSM. Same for any attempt at manipulating our opinion.

We all opted for the red pill, which means like "The Matrix", we have chosen the more difficult road, not the cult road.

I am sickened by the corporative narrative directing the reporting of this Election. With tongues hanging out, the Corporations are bolstering the Obama campaign, so that they can pull the plug on his defects , AFTER he would be the party's nominee. Same thing for Hillary.

John Edwards versus ANY Republican = Democaratic win.

Do you really think they can afford that result? If you doubt that investment, read again the virulence of that L.A. Times story about the Chamber of Commerce.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-chamber8jan08,1,5346679.story?track=rss&ctrack=1&cset=true

Welcome to our "BRAVE NEW WORLD" and "1984" all wrapped into one.

10. Proof is all too easy...
CORPORATE BACKED MSM IS STUCK ON A THEME.....

Tweety on MSNBC, started the show from the get go with an intro that brought up RACE issues between Obama and Hillary and that McCain will obviously be the front-runner for the GOP.

Both of those themes have been the Corporate talking points.

Matthews said both before he took a breath. Edwards doesn't exist in this World.

How RIGGED and FIXED does this process have to get? Will Obamites ever realize how they are used?
