Miss YOU guys too :)
Just dropped off a coin to the DU fund drive. And I'm in :))

Wanted to say hello, I'm a "teabagger" now, life is good ! Series'ly, it's definitely what JRE had in mind in 2003, I'm still on board, not necessarily DNC on board, and before JRE's little brain usurped us. WTF, he was right, you (Obama camp?) can't sit at the table with the insurance co's without them eating all the food. He was a moderate, in such a good way. Too bad he hired people so much "dumber" than us, right benny?, to run his campaign.

:toast:

1. Actually, it wasn't. Edwards may have been a cheater but he wasn't a functional illterate
and he certainly wouldn't ever have been connected with the idiot Palin. I agree about the seat at the table but the baggers would be right there supporting that seat at the table. I miss the Edwards message.

2. Catch, seriously,

I'd like to see you make the connections point by point where Edwards and the teabaggers intersect. From their mission statement:

Our Philosophy
Tea Party Patriots, Inc. as an organization believes in the Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free Markets. Tea Party Patriots, Inc. is a non-partisan grassroots organization of individuals united by our core values derived from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill Of Rights as explained in the Federalist Papers. We recognize and support the strength of grassroots organization powered by activism and civic responsibility at a local level. We hold that the United States is a republic conceived by its architects as a nation whose people were granted "unalienable rights" by our Creator. Chiefly among these are the rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." The Tea Party Patriots stand with our founders, as heirs to the republic, to claim our rights and duties which preserve their legacy and our own. We hold, as did the founders, that there exists an inherent benefit to our country when private property and prosperity are secured by natural law and the rights of the individual.

Mission Statement

Edwards condemned NAFTA and felt that it undermined the American worker. The teabaggers "free trade" screams at more of the same, and as the word "life" is emphasized in the mission statement, Edwards is pro-choice. The entire platform for the teabaggers is vague, ambiguous and undefined. To even connect Edwards and the teabagger movement only says to me that you were not as versed on the issues that Edward put forth. I have yet to see another former Edwards supporter make that connection and am very surprised at you doing that, surprised and disappointed.

3. No clue what connection you see with them
I see no connection with the "teabagger" term and anything involving the the Edwardses or those who supported them and their causes.

5. Hi Catchawave
Nice to see you here. It's awhile, eh?

Catch, if I understood your post, the JRE you miss is the one who first ran in 2003-04 who was more moderate. I was more moderate at the time too, but still a populist at heart because he was so interested in fixing the problem of poverty and redistributing wealth a bit more. I felt that JRE was as close to FDR we were going to get, and JRE started thinking more like him once the restrictions and silly rules of the senate were gone when he didn't seek re-election. I also think that JRE was upset with JK for not pushing more on recounts and perhaps not far enough on the war either.

Katrina and Cindy Sheehan's movement completely changed our country. And JRE was very aware of both.

Thus....

JRE's more progressive ideas became more left in order to establish a more solid base to work from. If I have disappointments with the campaign, it is over the timing of events and not letting volunteers know sooner about what he was planning to talk about--or being constantly late. The Gold Dust woman plays into some of this now, and I feel really bad for Elizabeth of having to bear the brunt of many problems, often having to handle the campaign when JRE was obviously doing other things he shouldn't have. Having to treat cancer, make certain the home schooler does his job with the kids, and dealing with the emotions of JRE's indiscretion is more than anyone should have to bear. And it's no wonder the campaign was disfunctional to a certain extent. Fred Baron was too busy paying the Gold Dust woman, and whom I believe became an accomplice taking advantage of a campaign that wasn't going very well in the summer of 2007--meaning the author of the Politician--the cash wasn't there for taking. I might add that JRE's timing was just awful in general in running in the primaries when a viable woman and a rising star who was bi-racial in heritage. Elizabeth said that more than once (and was savaged for it by Matt Stoller at the time).

About the Teabaggers; I have a nephew who is a Teabagger who was totally Obama in 2008, actually helped with events, raise money, etc. His teabagger status is more libertarian bent, which means he wants hands off his wallet but also off his personal life. Maybe this is where Catch is because I've not ever known Catch to be a social conservative. I'm not quite certain how JRE movement and teabaggers would connect except in the gray area of "hands off" in my social/personal life, which is what JRE and EE stood for (some exception about the marriage equality issue, where JRE supported civil unions, EE supported marriage equality). If teabaggers generally like Sarah Palin, the woman who can't remember to talk about tax cuts and has to write those key words on her hand, that's fine. Her husband suggested Alaska succeed from the Union (he's a ) just as Sarah Palin is. I suspect he is more libertarian than she is.

There are many teabaggers who were against the stimulus in supporting the banksters. JRE would have been for a smaller stimulus in helping banksters, but he would have asked for more shovel ready projects, and of course, green collar jobs.

I have to say most teabaggers I've seen on C-SPAN don't look like the diverse America nor are they for One America.

Catch, if indeed you are a teabagger(I'm guessing you meant independent), I'm curious as what about the Dem Party Parts you still like and what keeps you dropping a coin here when this site clearly states it is about supporting Democrats. Democrats aren't generally teabaggers, so I have to join my fellow EE Forum bloggers (but I urge my fellow bloggers here to engage Catch in a civil discussion about what it means to her to be a happy teabagger) and how teabagging connects to Dem values. That being said, I always supported candidates first than just those candidates who part of the DNC fabric. I'm certainly disappointed in Tim Kaine. Howard Dean was much better as a DNC chairman.

Best, Benny
