1. Thanks for the links, benny.
The only stuff I've seen about it is the stuff that's been posted here.

2. Thanks again.
And I'm SO glad JRE is going to Haiti. He'd be terribly remiss if he didn't.

I decided to step away from Internet politicking for a while, after Tuesday's fiasco. Looks like my sabbatical is coming just in time.

I wonder if JRE chose to come clean at this time, in part because he couldn't stand watching progressive Dems get screwed over any more. Sure, he may have no political future now... but at least he can start rebuilding some cred as a progressive and a man who really does care about poverty, not just himself... and who knows? If we're already this year talking about Eliot Spitzer making a comeback, maybe JRE has some hope after all.

3. What confession?
Ha! Just kidding.

Thanks for the article on Elizabeth. I'm reading Game Change now and although I like the book, the stuff on Elizabeth seems way over the top. They say really mean things about her and give examples that are almost entirely from the period after she found out about the affair. WTF? If everyone was judged by their behavior during a period like that we'd all be seen as shrill, demanding bitches. All the women, anyway. The men would be described as "understandably upset."

Speaking of that book, one thing is really clear. The Edwards weren't the only couple with skeletons that could have completely derailed a campaign. The Clintons and the McCains both had sexual stuff that could have caused their candidacies to implode.

4. If anybody ever needed a reason to despise Repugs, it is the reponse to those articles. What vermin
they are! Wondering why EE isn't dead yet.Saying she should die quietly at home and not call attention to herself. Despising John for being a trial lawyer. Mocking his Haiti efforts. No olne questions why celebs don't just "write a check". Why don't they say that to Ajelina Jolie? Sometimes I actually hate people.Seriously.And the fact we have dems that will pile in,:puke:
And the President showed very little class by not responding.Guess politics is more important than people.

5. The thing is...
... all the Repugs ever have done about Haiti was "just write a check". If they did anything at all. Which they very likely did not... after all, "they don't produce anything", and the Obama admin is just going to take a cut off every Haiti donation. :eyes:

At the telethon the other night, the ONLY Repug I saw in attendance was Mel Gibson.

9. the comments were horrible from some people.
I don't think the Pres. had much choice. JRE should understand that his actions made him a political hot potato and shouldn't have contacted the White House.

6. I have struggled with my feelings about JE. Maybe he will
pull himself out of this hole he dug. I hope so. Spitzer is back with a vengeance, let's hope the same will one day be true for John. I fear what will become of him if the day comes when EE is not around, Hunter stayed quiet and she still has her own agenda and a powerful tool in the child he's finally acknowledged.

EE is an incredible woman, and has always had the admiration and support of JE followers, maybe moreso than he, especially now. She's truly an example for women everywhere, despite what some BS book like Game Change has to say. Screw them all, have they ever walked in her shoes? Empathy is what wisdom brings, they have neither.

John always had the message right, whatever else he is guilty of, but that too is the very reason we mourn what might have been. How do you make a believer again of those you've scorned? We are very much in tune with EE's plight.

7. Here's my take on JRE
from my blog:

http://bennycat.blogspot.com/2010/01/jre-ideas-supporter.html

I have been deeply enriched from the Edwardses in taking interest in our government. Yes, he should have known better from being a US senator that the cover-up is always worse than the action, but that's between him and the families (since there are 3 now). Doesn't mean that I respect the media over this though. Now the National Enquirer is applying for an journalism award for this story? This is not true investigative reporting that has to do with the corruption of our government or the private sector either.

Benny
