1. Probably not
This is more like a mausoleum than a discussion group. The Lounge may be your best bet.

3. More a shrine than a mausoleum.
Not dead, and plenty of discussion here.

5. Hey dont get me wrong, I love classic movies. But I just saw a movie that I think is highly
underrated and wanted to share. The movie "Kenny".

7. There's also an Entertainment forum.
I don't keep up with it, so I don't really know how well movie threads do there.

The Lounge is a good place to go for general topics, particularly entertainment-related, but there's never any guarantee that people will pick up on something. So you could try both forums, or of course the IMDB message boards, which are highly specified, down to individual film titles, actors, etc.

13. I'm a classic fan AND loved the movie Kenny.

Saw it a few months ago and smiled for a week.

It WILL be considered a classic at some point.

8. Matilda, where is this discussion you are posting about???
I don't think mausoleum anywhere near conveys the deadness of this group. I have been to funerals, every one of which was more lively than this group.
I am counting about 65 posts which consist of nothing but the tcm listing.
I can turn on my tv and get the listings.
On my computer I can probably, with a couple clicks, and a nano second or two, find out what is on any tv in the entire world.
On this page there are 8 other posts. Most of which have no response whatsoever. Only one of which went all the lofty way to 10 posts, but most of which were mine.
Which surprises me, because it seems to me du should have people who can articulate something. And I don't mean one or two words of profanity, swearing, etc.
I mean a reasonable statement about a film they saw, new or old. It would surprise and delight me to see at least one such post here.

10. Given that there are only about half a dozen regular posters here,
we keep it going. I'm sure others may pop in and just view, but everybody's welcome if they have something to
say. It is a "Classic Film" forum, and that's of necessity limited in scope; people who want to discuss newer
films have other places to post.

There are discussions and recommendations, and I don't believe we've ever heard a swear word here, quaint old-
fashioned souls that we are.

9. What's with the whining responses to this original post?
Edited on Mon Apr-19-10 12:22 AM by Staph
If you don't like the discussion (or lack thereof) in this group, go somewhere else.

If you want to talk about movies, start a new post. Though you should be aware that most of the regular denizens of this group don't consider the Evil Dead series as classic films.

11. I'm glad you feel that it's up to you to tell me where to go. It isn't
but that's mighty big of you.
I'm also glad you feel you speak for the others here. I suppose they elected you spokesperson in a democratic election.
Your comment about Evil Dead is not discussion. It is a categorical conclusion about it being out of bounds.
But if that is your total and final ability to discuss Evil Dead, why do you post that snippet here rather than under the Evil Dead thread? Is it you want to whine about truthful observations?

12. I believe that DU has rules in place to deal with those who try to disrupt groups.
You don't have to like this forum, but you have no right to come here
and be rude to those of us who do.

If you can't be civil, please go away.

14. The OP posed a polite and, I think, sincere question...
...which a number of people responded to.

What I see you doing is labeling others' behavior and making complaints.
