Irene Dunn and Cary Grant were a marvelous comic duo.
I had the unexpected pleasure of catching "My Favorite Wife" and "The Awful Truth" the other day. I had seen both movies as a kid and had not particularly cared for them. Seeing them as an adult, however, gave me a real appreciation of the scriptwriters ability to convey sexual meaning despite the censors' heavy hand. Dunn is a wonderful comic with exquisite timing. She and grant are wonderful together. Catch these classics the next time they are on.

1. Check out "Penny Serenade" as well if it comes your way.
It could so easily have been an over-sentinmental melodrama in other hands, but Grant and Dunne
lifted it above the level it was written, and it's a tribute to their strength as actors that it's
actually very watchable.
