1. Hmm..
The weapons should be listed on the left column of the kit customization screen. Just highlight and it should load out. If you haven't seen the customization screen, click the black bar that says.. err kits or something and it should slide open a bigger screen.

As far as getting out of the low-rank gutter.. stay away from recon. Get good with one of the lmgs on medic. I like the saw 249. Very accurate at burst. Also get good with a smg on engineer. I like the pp2000 but it's the last unlock. The first engi weapon is my second choice and is a good one to grind out some unlocks with. On assault, I actually still use the standard aek971 even with all the other guns unlocked. Just remember that in most cases you will not drop your enemy with one mag. When the mag is empty, switch to handgun and finish them off instead of reloading. And the grenade launcher is tops in most situations.

2. The UMP is the last engineer unlock, but I like the PP2000 more.

3. When you are choosing your kit, move the highlighted bar to the left once.
This will place the highlighted bar on the main weapon of the kit. If you have unlocked more weapons for that kit, you should be able to move the highlighted bar down to select more weapons.

If you are not currently in a game, you can see all of your multiplayer unlocks in the Weapons and Gadgets menu.

Some tips:

Be patient. Go slow. Look for cover and shadow. Travel in groups if you can.

Traveling along the edge of the maps is usually safer than traveling in the middle of the maps.

Tapping the fire button instead of holding the fire button will greatly increase the accuracy on most main weapons.

If you are really close, try your knife. The knife is always a one hit kill on opponents.

The Red Dot sight is easier to use than the iron sights for many fire arms, once you unlock the Red Dot sight for a kit, check it out.

Different parts of the body take different amounts of damage, always aim for head if you can.

Assault and Medic are the easiest kits to play for most people. You can score a lot of points with your Ammo Packs and Health Packs.

If you are playing Medic, don't move when you shoot unless absolutely necessary. The Light Machine Guns are ridiculously inaccurate when moving, but very accurate when standing still, and even more accurate when crouching still. The medic can kill opponents with his defibrillator in a pinch.

If you are playing Assault, and you have the Ammo pack unlocked, you basically have infinite grenades. Use these grenades to search buildings. Throw the grenades through the windows and see what happens. Some times you will not get a kill, but you will hear, "Oh fuck, a grenade!" if you are close enough.

If you are playing Engineer, and you have the power tool unlocked, try to rampage with a tank. When your tank's health is low, drive away and repair it with the power tool. The power tool will damage opponent vehicles about as fast as it will repair a friendly/neutral vehicle. Assume all landmines are opponent landmines. The Engineer is also the best anti-vehicle kit. The first and third rocket launcher are both anti-vehicle (the second one is anti-infantry and has a big "splash"). The third rocket launcher can guide the rockets with the aim cursor.

If you are playing Recon, you will probably suck at first with the bolt action rifles (M24, GOL, M95, etc.). You may want to wait until you unlock some of the weapons for all the kits, such as the Thomson Machine Gun (M1A1) or a decent shotgun. The first shotgun is pretty weak, I would avoid it. The Magnum ammo seems to do nothing for the bolt action rifles, but the Magnum ammo is good for all other guns, including the pistols. If you want to use the bolt action rifles then aim high, lead your target, and aim for the head. Once you unlock the x4 scope for Recon, try this scope for the bolt action rifles. This scope helped me learn how to aim with these rifles.
