Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 01:29 PM by TheBaldyMan
preparing for a job next week. I was going to spend the weekend prepping my machine for some major RPGing action.

I was planning on disappearing off the face of the earth for a few weeks and now I have to work.

Life sucks.

2. From the Bioware support page ...
the NWN2 forum http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=502648&forum=116">technical FAQ
  • 2GHz P4 or AthlonXP or better
  • 512Mb RAM
  • Micro$ucks XP
  • 128MB Direct3D compatible video card with DirectX 9.0c compatible driver
Minimum attributes of your Video Card
    1. Video RAM: Required - 128 MB
    2. Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes
    3. Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes
    4. Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0
    5. Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0
  • DVD version of the game needs a high speed DVD drive
  • 4.6Gb Free HD space
You can check to see if your machine can run a game from http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest">System Requirements Lab - it needs ActiveX & Java enabled along with a small download for the mini-app to run.

I haven't installed it yet but I think I'm squeaking in at the bottom end and will have to turn all graphics requirements to minimum. My current driver doesn't support pixel & vertex shading - I'm going to install and hope it doesn't crash too often. If it does then it's a new graphics card for me.

3. I've been waiting for a reason to upgrade my graphics card
This is probably it.

I'm on the bottom end as well, but with a new card I should be okay.

Thanks for that link.

6. Actually, if you REALLY want a reason to upgrade your video card,
http://www.spore.com/">try this.

Also check out the Spore videos on Youtube.

Spore is slated for release in Q3 2007.

5. I wish they had never given up the Baldur's Gate series
I disliked the first NWN.

7. did you try Shadows of Amn & Throne of Bhaal at all?
I thought the engine was pretty cool and NWN wasn't a huge step forward from that.

I liked the stronghold missions in Shadows of Amn. I was playing a bard and got the theatre then had to produce a play. I finished the damn game before I got to the first night. It was weird having to break off from chasing Jon Irenicus because an actress had a wardrobe malfunction or the leading man had a drinking problem.

Still haven't managed to install my copy of NWN2 yet!

8. I liked those missions too, never got the theatre though
Played a fighter and then a sorc so did those two. Wanted to try a druid for that grove.

Downloading NWN 2 right now, been playing NWN past few weeks working on all sorts of class combos. Loving this druid / monk / dwarven defender.

9. Ok, just got it going this morning...
...and UGH the camera controls are bugging me. I like using either chase or drive, but the camera never seems to line up behind my char when I'm running around. So I end up running into everything and take some time to get turned back around, get the camera turned and get back on my way...UGH!!!

10. I'm still waiting for my new graphics card, it's on order
I installed the game and got a DirectX components not found (I'm short on the pixel and vertex shader version).

One of my mates says it's a good game and has managed to get him away from WoW for a few days.

Hopefully next week I'll be ready to go, the only problem is I'm starting a training course in a week. Life still sucks.

11. Yeah, I like what I'm seeing as far as the story
Having to run it myself on bare minimal graphics just about (where my camera issues come in at I think).

Otherwise I'm enjoying where I've been thus far.

12. NWN2 camera
I'm with you on the camera. Absolutely horrible. I hope they fix it in an upcoming patch.

Storywise, it's been good so far, but the game is really laggy for me. I'm hoping it runs better on my newer computer, now that it's up and running. It's been playable on both my old computer and my laptop, but only on minimal settings.
