My fingers are tingling with anticipation
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 12:06 PM by DS1
Over the last 5 weeks I've been looking at various upgrade options for my PC, and in the last two days I've ordered some components.

2 Corsair Value sticks of RAM - 1 GB each DDR400
1 evga 6800GT 256MB PCIe /x16
Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe
AMD 64 3000 Venice core (it's a placeholder until until the x2 chips come down in price )
2 Seagate 160GB Sata2 drives for Raid 0

So... What games do DUers play online together? I heard there's a BF2 thing going on here...

1. BF2 for sure
and IMHO you've got some damn good components there! The AMD 64 bit kicks butt! I run the 3200 939 on a Soltek board with Corsair DDR400 dual channel. Now that the 6800 series is coming down into my price range it may be time for me to upgrade!
For BF2 info we have a couple things going on. PM me for details if interested.

2. Will do!
Like I said, the 3000 is a $150 doorstop for the 64/x2 that I'm really after :D

It would kick ass to organize a DU / Freep BF2 CTF match - if BF2 has CTF.

Then again, I could kill every last one of them myself in Q3 :D

no lie

3. Hell, other than the PCIe vid card (and mobo)
You've got pretty close to my machine :)

I've got PQI RAM instead (which benched about the same but was cheaper), and I've got a different brand video card that's AGP instead.

But, same CPU, same quantity and speed of RAM, same drives (oh wait, I didn't do mine in RAID, I could have but didn't).

5. I Just Got A Venice 3000+,...
MB, DVD burner and case today. The 3000+ Venice is supposed to be a good overclocker. I'm going to go for 3400+ speeds. I'm upgrading from an AMD XP2000+. I can't wait to see the difference.

8. That's Very Close To The PC I was Using About Eight.
Months ago Except I was using an ATI card. The difference is amazing. I doubled my 3dmark scores. I've never been able to double benchmark scores in one upgrade. FYI that processor overclocked to 3500+ without a hitch. Temps are a bit high, but when I get to it I'll replace the thermal pad that came on the stock heat-sink with some Arctic Silver.

9. I have not OC'd my 64 3200 yet
but I have a great HSF, by Arctic Cooling, you may be interested in. I idle ~34C and go to ~41C under full load. This HSF is very quiet and well worth the $$!
I use Arctic Silver 5 with it.
