Blog-o-nuclear war
Edited on Thu Aug-04-11 01:50 AM by onager
Is anyone else still gawking at the train wreck following the "Shaftgate" story?

Good grief, what a crapfest. Former friends now sworn enemies, and vice versa. New and nearly endless forum threads opening nightly, apparently. And open, rational, skeptical-type discussions such as - "JUST STFU AND LEARN! AND STOP NAME-CALLING, YOU FUCKING PRIVILEGED DICKHEAD!"

I will not link to any relevant blogs/threads, since they are easy to find.

Jebus! At this point, I think I'm reverting to my childhood when Mom and Dad were fighting. I no longer care who started it or who's right and wrong, I just want the screaming to stop.

Well, I guess I can make it stop. I'll just have to quit reading that stuff for a while. It's been...educational, though. And not necessarily in a good way.

1. What does this refer to? Is it about the Dawkins incident, or is there something else?

5. Here's a helpful timeline (I hope)...
Sorry for the delay in responding, LB. Had to wait until I got home from work!

As it turns out - and I didn't know a lot of this myself - there were incidents before, during and after the Dawkins incident contributing to the overall insanity. Gurdur at his blog posted a helpful timeline of who did what, and when. It's at the bottom of this blog entry:

3. I stopped checking in on a number of blogs because of it.
And that's sad.

4. People are STILL arguing about this?
It happened a couple months ago right? The fact that this is still occuring shows that chauvanism is alive and well. If it weren't this whole thing would have been long forgotten..

6. It's depressing.
And of course anyone with a beef for skeptics (and especially atheists) loves every minute of it, thinking "hey, maybe my church harbors and protects child rapists, but lookit them atheists fighting! haw haw!"

7. That's how it's always been.
And when there isn't something real to point at, it gets invented like the 'schism' from last year. Remember that?

8. Yep, Conservapedia's having a great time...
They call this "satire." I do not think that word means what they think, etc.:

How can SkepCheck best leave the odious snare of feminism?

If SkepChick really wants to leave feminism, Conservapedia suggest she leaves atheism and become a Christian. Consider the information directly below.

The American Spectator declared:

“ The report estimates about 80,000 new Christians every day, 79,000 new Muslims every day, and 300 fewer atheists every day. These atheists are presumably disproportionately represented in the West, while religion is thriving in the Global South, where charismatic Christianity is exploding."<19> ”

Besides Christianity having an abundant amount of evidence supporting it and the power of God behind it, Christian men are so much nicer that atheists men! Mean, boorish, selfish and insensitive atheist men are helping causing atheism to lose 300 people a day, while nice Christian men are co-laboring with God to help cause about 80,000 people a day declare themselves to be Christians.

9. Wait ...Christian men are so much nicer?
So telling a woman that her voice and her opinions don't matter and she should "submit gracefully" to her husband is nicer? Lets not even get into the original sin shit. No one with a brain buys that crap, unfortunately seems to be a lot of brainless people around
