Oh my good sweet lord. I just have to share this ridiculousness with my pals. TOTALLY NOT skeptic
stuff.

So because I'm a cheap-ass who refuses to pay full price for ANYTHING, I usually get my hair done at the local upscale salon beauty school. They do a good job, and it's relatively cheap ($85 for a colour and partial foil) and $12 for a haircut. Yeah, they take a bit more time than I'd like but they're students, yanno. I'm all for the pursuit of knowledge (especially if it keeps my wallet fat).

So I have an appointment at 930 today for a colour, partial foil, and hair cut. One Hunderd Smackers and I should be home by 3, enough to see Mr. Heddi for a while before he goes to work at 630, right?

well....

Firstly, I wasn't called to the chair until 10am. She didn't even START the blending colour until 11. Then that had to sit for a while, then get rinsed out and my hair dried for the foils. tick tock tick tock it's 2:00 and we're just starting the foils.

Gulp

I have to LEAVE at 5 to be home in enough time so that Mr. Heddi can take the car to work. I ***had*** planned on stopping by Trader Joes to get some yummies, but nix that idea.

So I keep reminding the very nice, but verrrrrrrrrrry slow young gal that I needed to be OUT by 5pm, no later.

yeahyeahyeah

330 rolls around and only half of my partial foil (which means only half of my head is being foiled) is done. Oy.

4:00 and we're still foiling. Well, she's foiling and I'm FUMING

4:30 I go under the dryer to help it 'process faster'

4:50 she washes out the foils.

So I leave. No hair cut. Not even a hair DRY. Dripping wet in a pony tail, my hair is so shaggy as to be ILLEGAL in the state it's in....

So she says "Oh, my instructor says you can get a free haircut next time since you didn't get one today"

oh.....

So I go to the front to pay and I'm like "can you just apply the price of the free haircut to my incomplete service---I was here for SEVEN AND A HALF HOURS and my hair didn't even get dried, and I didn't get a haircut, which was one of the two things i came here for"

so round and round I went with the instructor. She can't give me a refund for something I didnt' have done. I say "Fine. Just comp me $15 for the free haircut you're going to give me next time I come in"

She's liek "Well, do you like your hair" and I said "I don't know, it' ssoaking wet!"

So in the end, she took $50 off :) so I only paid $35. I still tipped the nice, by verrrrry slow girl 10% of the original $85, and now I have to go get my hair cut later at Rudy's for $20, so I'm still a few bucks ahead.

GOD what an ordeal though. SEVEN AND A HALF HOURS> ANd my hair isn't even longer than my CHIN!!!!!! shit.

2. Yeah, well, Mine doesn't :)
I just got back from getting it cut, and the cut only took about 40 minutes total, and she did alot of shaping. NOT SEVEN HOURS sheesh.

Men are so uncomplicated.

My husband has the most beautiful curly hair, and he does NOTHING with it. If he were a girl, his hair would be frizzed out from over styling and product blah blah. He gets it cut once every 4 years.....and it looks great. I get mine trimmed and highlighted and blah blah blah every....2 or 3 months (should be more frequently but I'm a cheap ass) and it always looks like hell.

I'd go the "bald" look but then I'd just look like a pumpkinhead. See below for proof:

see, told ya. BIG PUNKIN HED

4. I don't even know what a "partial foil" is.
Something less than a full foil, I suppose. For that and a "colour" $85 is cheap, huh? Are you sure you don't pay extra for the extra "u" in "colour"? :)

not the BIG guns, like the ones Major League Baseball uses, but it should keep out Pakistan, Nestle, and the National Dairy Council.

6. Here, i'll explain
1) Although I grew up and lived in South Carolina for 25 of the 33 years I've been on this planet, my mother is an Anglophile, and loved all things England. I was taught from a young age the proper way to spell certain words was to add a "u" to them: Neighbour, Colour, Honour, etc. It's a habit I've had all my life. I mean, if I can't be left-handed at least I can add a "u" to Colour :D

2) A partial foil is a foiling of the top 3/4 of your head, or thereabouts

3) The All-Over Colour I had done was to make my roots (about 3 inches of very dark brown - my natural colour) blend in with the remaining inches of previously coloured hair (a strawberry blondey colour). So I had to have a base colour applied to my entire head to even things out. When that was done, the foiling of light blonde was added to the most often seen "top" part of my hair

See here:

See how there are areas that are lighter (foil) and darker (all over blended colour).

To get this high-tech shit done in a normal salon, I'd be paying upwards of $115, probably closer to $130. Insane, I know. That's why I go (went) to the beauty school, where the colour and foil together is $85. Of course, I've always gone previously (unbeknownst to me) to more advanced students, and that's why it previously only took about 4 hours to do my hair (including a cut), not 7.5 like today (no cut, no hair dry)

8. No, you don't add a "u" to certain words -
You just remember to not take it out.

Just saying...

I should have stipulated that the picture I used above was from a previous hair cut about a year ago that I used for reference. The girl who cut my hair did not have a very good memory, as can be told by the SUPPOSED TO BE SECRET ahem picture of me you just posted.

ANY MORE SECRETS YOU WANNA SHARE ABOUT ME, GOATY???? :-P

(oh and that pic is GREAT it's now my facebook & myspace profile pic. Even though clowns freak me out, that's not totally clown freaky. It's terribly clown funny. It goes well with my mythical unicorn yak and getting in touch with my inner dolphin pics you've made in the past ha ha)
