1. Hey, we've already got one screaming about fluoridation
Edited on Wed May-28-08 02:04 PM by Warpy
on a completely unrelated thread about the decline in average height over the last 30 years.

I'm sure one of the screechers will pick this one up before the end of next week.

3. I did one snark today, but it was in A&A
It hit its target and I wisely avoided the follow up.

Others picked up the standard.

4. Flouride causes shorter people??

Go to either the 9/11 forum (the conspiracy room Midlo calls it) or Health and "learn" how fluroide in the water is teh evul! Apparantly its all a conspiracy by Big Dental to mind control us....

6. Ooh! I stay far away from the 9/11 forum! Thank god Skinner moved that crap
out of GD!

Interesting that Big Dental would push a product that will give people stronger teeth! :wtf:

At least that is my understanding, that it creates stronger tooth enamel. Not that I am representative, but at 47 I have had two cavities and grew up on flouridated water and took flouride tablets until i was seven. Oh wait, maybe that's why i keep confusing you with Tony Romo!!1!!

:hi:

7. Actually, it makes teeth insensitive to the acid you get from the breakdown of sugards by bacteria.
As well as any other kind of food acid that reaches your teeth.

Your teeth uses hydroxyapatite, which has an OH group. This can combine with the H from acid to form H20, allowing the tooth to dissolve.

Flouridation replaces some of the OH with F, which will not do the same.

It also means it takes longer to dissolve in water, but that wasn't so much of a problem. Actually, it makes them more insoluble in nearly anything.

However, it also makes it more brittle. This is a legitimate concern with the ageing population (because it affects bones as well as teeth), but there is currently no data on the subject.

That was drive-by science with R_A.

14. Well, with flares reaching out several earth radii, it seemed rather overkill
to only put you nine meters from the sun.

Isn't it obvious now that I've pointed it out?
