Chance for free Four o'Clocks!
The Herb Companion is offering a chance to win three packs of Four O'Clock seeds:

• Post a comment in the comments section below telling us if you grow four-o'clocks or if you remember them in your mother's or grandmother's garden.

• End date: August 8, 2011.

Good luck!

I'm assuming one is meant to hold on to the seeds and plant them next spring.

If you win, you have to send me one pack! ;) JK.

1. Cool beans, beac!
I won't be entering because I don't communicate in writing very well.

After reading others' entries, it reminded me of my Gramma's flower garden. Dang if I hadn't forgotten all about the afternoon blooming flowers. Great memories from the late '50's.

Hope if a DU'er wins, they share their story here and some seeds with you :hi:

2. You should enter!
Your middle sentence above would be perfect. :)

Anyway, I'm sure the winner isn't chosen based on the eloquence of their words, but rather a random number generator will pick a post and that person gets the seeds.

4. Just entered. I have planted Four O'Clocks for years.
It seems many people are not familiar with this flower. The colors are vibrant, the blossoms big and bright. I think they are one of my favorite flowers. I save the seeds each year and plant them again the following year. This years crop is a little disappointing but so are all my other flowers. The heat has done a number on them. I will still have seeds but will not have enough to give to friends.

5. We have some planted next to the house
the warmth keeps them alive over the winter, and the roots go deep and stay cool in the summer.

I didn't know there was such a demand for the seeds! I'll have to save more than the usual handful this year. :)
