Transplanting leggy broccoli advice sought
I started a bunch of broccoli and cabbage from seeds with a great germination rate. They developed true leaves, looking like the ones for sale at the nursery but leggy. I transplanted them out yesterday and they have all fallen over. If they die I will just go buy some nursery ones, but wanted to try them from seed.

I know that tomatoes can be planted deeper, will grow more roots along their stems, but brassicas can't. Does anyone have advice about planting leggy broc/cabbages beyond the usual water after planting and prop up with bits of whatever?

Thank you.

1. Yes, they can.
I've done that many times. You can bury them up to the depth of the cotyledons (seed leaves). It is only a few extra inches most of the time, but it helps. They will grow some roots on the stem just like a tomato.

Otherwise, staking them up at least temporarily is your best bet.

They're tough plants, they should be fine. My biggest issue in growing them is getting them past the "it's so young and tender everything wants to eat it" stage.

2. I have started brassicas and they were "all" floppy by the time I transplanted them
So, Deninmi's advice is fine.
