He's Baaaaaack!. The groundhog returns.
Three miles distance was not enough.

I have to give the critter some credit for traveling three miles
to get back to his home. How he got back is mystery to me.

Impressed with his hutzpah........I figured I could coexist with him.
I spouted a bag of lentils and sowed them near his burrow.
Yeah right, I guess he doesn't like lentils.

Tonight he ate everything under the trellis........everything.

So i guess I have to catch him again before he eats the other side of the garden.

Next catch he is going across the Hudson river. Sorry hoggy but you leave me few options.

Can they swim? I hope not.

1. Is it the same one? Maybe another one took its place. Or
could it be deer or bunnies?

4. I'm pretty sure it's the same one.
I have seen him so it's not deer or bunnies. No bunnies due to
4 cats on the property.

2. Here's what I did for my ground hog. I got those bamboo skewers
and placed them, point up, around the plants. The sharp skewers prevent them from eating the tender shoots. They seem to leave the more mature plants alone. My ground hog keeps my compost turned.

6. I haven't seen any babies.
In the past when I had ground hogs the babies stayed pretty close to the momma.

8. huh, did he return from across the river, too?
We have one (several I suspect), but they don't seem to eat the flowers - I don't grow veggies much.
