picked my first tomato of the season yesterday
shared half with my wife - can't beat a fresh tomato right off the vine.

ok - so it was only a cherry tomato - but that little bite had more flavor than all the tomatoes eaten over the winter months.

1. I hate you.
I've got three plants in the ground doing much of nothing yet (too cold) and a few still in pots that are getting their first flowers. It will be weeks yet...

2. My thoughts exactly!
That is what i thought immediately. Then I sat back and pondered on why. Because even though I have had the pleasure of eating local greenhouse tomatoes all winter (which are 100% better than the store bought ones but only 50% the flavor of a summer tomato), I crave that taste of the summer tomato, warm in my hand, fresh off the vine.

We should be thankful he at least gave his wife the other half. I would be sorely pressed to eat the whole thing in private and give the second tomato to Mr.sazemisery.

I won't be seeing any ripe tomatoes until August.
Why do I live here? Why oh why oh why.

3. We really don't hate you.
BUT, we really really really envy you. I am most proud of the fact that you shared it.

5. You beat me!
It'll be tomorrow or the next day before my two little cherries are ready for harvest. To be honest I've had plenty of warm days in which to get some ripe. I was a bit slow getting them out there this year though.

Next up, the now 3" (about) long yellow crookneck squash. :D
