Spriulina - expensive green goop or great good for you green goo?

I have been reading up a bit on spirulina trying to decide whether to try it or not. As a person currently with several food sensitivities & ibs not a lot of stuff makes my insides happy. I say *currently* as I hope to someday get over this mess as disorders worse than this can go into remission so why not mine? Anyhoo my ultimate aim is to get to the point I can eat more common food with only a multi for backup but until then I keep trying different things every so often hoping to find things that are nutritious and don't bug one issue or another.

So have any of ya'll tried spirulina with any detectable benefits and if so what brands do you like best?
